If Brrvrn Cndortake to Rale Hops Here. Growers Will Take Steps Protect Their Interests. to If the Eastern brewer, who nave formd the fnlt.d States Brewlr. Association, an dertak to rale hop tn Oreron. wltb the co-operation of a tew of the larger dealers. ae la Indicated by the statement taened by the representative ot the E. C Borat Cam rany. It Is very likely the Independent hop growers and dealers will take ateps to pro tect their business. The Edar statement naturally aroused much Interest In the bop trade here. The majority of the hop men were not disposed to take the matter seriously, classing It with other schemes that, from time to time. have beeo announced, but failed to mate rialize. The formation of such a company, how- over, composed of the larger brewers and Horst and his friends, would be a factor la the hop trade that would bare to be reck oned with. If the deal goes through. It la safe to say the Oregon hopgrowers will not t Idle, but will pool their Interests In soma way to offset the effect of the combination. There I already ta!k of organising In some manner so as to enable the growers to sell direct to brewers, but the movement as yet lacks leadership. There were no new developments yester day In the market. There was a good In qulry. but few sellers. McXeff Bros bought 220 balea of Yakima, and there r. a few small transactions between local dealers. Berahard Blng writes from Nuramburg under date of December 24: Tendency of the market Is exceedingly firm and prices have advanced again 20 to -23 marka for ill descriptions. Exporters snd home consumers are dally buyers at ontinually rising prlcea Considering, besides. mat Qualities are advancing tn their c. meat, there Is a further Increase of value ta note.
