ASTORIA. Or., Dee. 1 (Special.) Officers of the Oregon Coast Railway Company held a conference today with Llnwood Haines, a Philadelphia banker, who has been In the city for several dava. to consider matters In connection with the construction of the proposed electrio railroad from this city to Sea side and Tillamook, with a branch leading up the Lewis and Clark River to the rich timber and agricultural dis trict of the Nehalem Valley. Since oomlng here, Mr. Haines has made a thorough investigation of the project and Is convinced that the pro posed line will be one of the best-paying transportation propositions in the West. He is anxious to take tho mat ter up with his associates In the Bast, with a view to financing It. While no definite conclusion was ar rived at today, it was practically agreed that after Mr. Haines has per fected the title to the old Reid grade up the. Lewis and Clark and turned It over to the local company, that com pany will enter Into a contract with him and bis associates whereby the rights-of-way, franchises, etc, which It owns will be turned over to Mr. Haines, when the road Is constructed.
