DEAL ON FOR ROAD RIGHTS
Philadelphia Banker Anxious to
Finance Oregon Coast Railway.

Officers of the Oregon Coast Railway
Company held a conference today with
Llnwood Haines, a Philadelphia banker,
who has been In the city for several
dava. to consider matters In connection
with the construction of the proposed
electrio railroad from this city to Sea
side and Tillamook, with a branch
leading up the Lewis and Clark River
to the rich timber and agricultural dis
trict of the Nehalem Valley.
Since oomlng here, Mr. Haines has
made a thorough investigation of the
project and Is convinced that the pro
posed line will be one of the best-paying
transportation propositions in the
West. He is anxious to take tho mat
ter up with his associates In the Bast,
with a view to financing It.
While no definite conclusion was ar
rived at today, it was practically
agreed that after Mr. Haines has per
fected the title to the old Reid grade
up the. Lewis and Clark and turned It
over to the local company, that com
pany will enter Into a contract with
him and bis associates whereby the
rights-of-way, franchises, etc, which
It owns will be turned over to Mr.
Haines, when the road Is constructed.
