Word that more than 800,000 bushels had been chartered for shipment abroad, and that two additional cargoes had left Balti more, together with large exports of Pacific Slope wheat, also aided In hardening the market, and the close was Arm. The opening weakness In corn was due to heavy rainfalls which encouraged belief that a good crop la assured. Little beyond beef Mock reached the North Portland yards yesterday and practically everything brought in came from points out side the mate. Receipts were 888 cattle, 84 hogs and 20 horses. The cattle were all from California and Idaho. The horses were brought In from Idaho. The day's offerings showed about the same general quality as those ot th. past week, and the few sale, recorded during the day devel oped nothing new In th. way of prices. Three bunches ot steers changed hands at $4.25 and $5.25 a hundred and one lot of cows aver aging 897 pounds In weight brought $4.25. There was one sale of hog. and th. price realised $9.50, but porker, of better quality could undoubtedly have been moved at a bet ter figure. No trad.
