Pit, Principal Causes Being
Visible Supply Reports.
CHICAGO Aug. 10. Extreme weakness
marked th. first half of th. session In the
wheat pit. the principal causes being an
Increase of more than 8.0O0.00O bushels in
the world's visible supply and heavy local
receipts. Selling. Induced by these factore.
waa rather overdone and later In the day
shorts sought to cover, forcing prices up to
a higher point than the previous close.
Word that more than 800,000 bushels had
been chartered for shipment abroad, and
that two additional cargoes had left Balti
more, together with large exports of Pacific
Slope wheat, also aided In hardening the
market, and the close was Arm. September
closed a shade up. at (1.02 to 1.02
1.02 '4. after having touched bottom at
$1 t 1.0O.
The opening weakness In corn was due
to heavy rainfalls which encouraged belief
that a good crop la assured. The close waa
steady all around, with September c
off at 83 c to 83 c. after having touched
02c. Prices In the cash corn market were
!c lower. No. 2 sold at 64j05c.
Oats exhibited none of the fllghtlness of
the other grains and price variations kept
within c. unmarked by any closing rally.
The cash market fell off c and Spring sales
were large. The close was firm, with Sep
tember off. at 88. while December
closed c down, at 38ti38c
Provisions were strong. Pork closed from
5c down to loc up and early products gslned
from S to 15c. The close was firm. Final
figure, for the September products were:
Pork. $21.33. 5c off; Igrd, 111.9214. 7c
