Representatives of steamship lines running to the Orient expect that business will be light during the next five or six months. In the Far Kast conditions are bad. Currency is un stable, and consequently there is little demand for American goods. On this side the cotton and salmon seasons are finished, while there is very little flour and wheat moving. The recently reduced rate on these commodities has not stim ulated business, while the reduction on lumber has not helped trade. Having been disengaged here for six weeks awaiting orders, the big German steamer Alexandria of the Hamburg American line will begin to load general cargo next week and then proceed to Hamburg via Central and South America. While lying at one of the local mills Thursday evening, the steam schooner Kowdotn took a bad list which caused part of her deck load to fall into the bay. Then the steamer listed to the other side and leaned against the -wharf. The lumber was picked up and the steamer righted. She left out tonight for San Francisco. Marine Notes of Seattle. S15ATTI..K.
