Brown was held yesterday afternoon from the Scottish Rite Cathedral, Lownsdale and Morrison streets. The services were conducted by the Rev. A. A. Morrison of Trinity Episcopal Church. The various lodges of the Ma sonic order, of which Captain Brown was a member, attended in a body. The services were short and impressive. The body was interred in Rivervlew cemetery. ; In respect to the memory of Captain Brown all work on the waterfront was suspended yesterday. Flags on all craft in the harbor were at half mast, M was all colors on the build ings occupied by shipping firms. Rep resentatives from all maritime organ isations and all business interests of Portland attended the funeral. The longshoremen attended In a body, and masters, pilots and friends appeared as individuals. Chaplain A. B. Bernays represented the Seamen's Institute and the seamen in port. The pallbearers were: Charles Kohn, John Burgard. John Fox, John Betts, F. O. Downing, R. E. Powell, Phil Metsehan and Cap tain William H. Patterson. Was Bullet Meant for Kaiser? BERLIN, May IT. According to the Mlttag Zeitung, what may have been an attempt to shoot the Kaiser oc curred in the neighborhood of Weis baden. Some one rjred a revolver at a 'nlgh-power automobile running be tween the villages of Ehreniieim and Hattershefm. but the bullet passed harmlessly over the heads of the occu pants. Ten minutes later the Kaiser's car passed. It is assumed that the per son who fired the shot mistook the first automobile for that of his Majesty. WEATHER CONDITIONS. The pressure has risen lomewhat over the Washington coast and fallen slightly over Southern Idaho, but no decided changes in the distribution or air pressure have been noted since thls morning. The low over Artwana. has shifted to the northward, and now overlies Northern Utah. Although of very moderate character, this low pressure area possesses sufficient energy to cause threatening weather over the district east of the Cascades. A thunder storm, accom panied hy light rain, was reported from Baker City, and a trace of rain occurred at Boise.
