Remarkably mild 'weather prevails over the whole Pacific slope, and also Montana. The maximum temperature today at Seattle. Walla Walla, Portland and Roseburg was CO deg.; at Red Bluff It -was 70 deg. Rain has fallen today only on the Washington coast, and clear or only partly cloudy -weather has generally pre vailed. This is due to the high-pressure area of wide extent that reaches from the Pacific coast to the Missouri river, being central In Idaho. A fall in pressure along the coast indicates the approach of a low from the ocean, and there "will be rain Thursday west of the Cascades. The river reached a stage of 16.7 feet at Portland, and remained stationary. Albany re ported 17.3 feet, a fall of 5 feet In 24 hours. It la expected ths. after Thursday the river at Portland will fall slowly. WEATHER SYNOPSIS. Forecasts made at Portland for the 28 hours ending at midnight Thursday. Jan.
