Raymond will soon reach there with his mill, and others are following. Redel Influences in Wall Street. Some people are given to imagine that the juice of gold is a good t-vidunoe of ihe nature of Ihe news Iroin our armies, whether favorable or un favorable, anil that in faot. Wall street is the grnnd and infallible) indicator of the way in which the war is going. If gold operations were fairly oouduott-il, aud the quotations from day to day represented the bona fide value of the artielf, it might bo a safe index iu this par ticular. But this is not so. Wall street is, iu a measure, in the bunds of rebel sympathisers and direct rebel ageuta, who create a fictitious price for the purpose of showing the embarras sed condition of affairs at the North, to dispirit our people and give comfort to the enemy. There is nothing substantial in tho way these gentry carry on their proceedings except the success which attends them. A rebel agent nominally buys or sells with another, with whom he is in collusion, at a high rate, neither of theiu having dollar with which to operate; and this quotation is immediately blaioued abroad as the price of gold, whereas there is really no gold at all represented in the transac tion. The nierobanu who want gold to pay duties purchase it as they would calico or broad cloth, 10 meet their nerds; but the speculators ruu the price no or down, to suit their own ne farious ends. That these people are in the in terests of the rebellion, is evident from the prominence which all the Southern papers give to tbe gold quotations in Wall street, which they imetiiurf give at one hundred per crn'. nmre than the tree rate; thus, the Charleston Mrremry of the 2"tli quotes gold al I7G. but adds that these fi.ures probably mean l'J6, and further, that this is the only premium, thus making the actual price of gold in New York 10. No doubt these statements, absurd as they are, are greedily swallowed by hundreds' in the rebel Statue. I bis is tlie mode by which the gold market is regulated to farther the ends of traitors North tnoT Swh. Mete York Her ald, Mai 30(A. m:ttkr from idaho. ('ami Union, m-nr I'-migrunt Itoiid, het. ) l'owiler it Burnt hirers, July IU, j Ei. Statesman: An awful tragedy having been ennoti'd m ar this plneo, I hn Ion to report it by ftrat opportunity: Two cousins by nniiio of Riniiciir ( Canadians ) Iiavo been for soino time keeping a toll road on It unit River, nbout twenty-live liitlos from this pmcc. (Jn Wcuties. -day lust,, the filli lust., Hub Ut'ei'iiwooil, a hall'- , breed, in company with twn other men former keepers of lire Waslioo Ferry on Sniiko River, and Stewart by name, I believe rodu up to the toll gate, vary much inttixioated. One of the Stewarts made some remark to George Kin near, wlieii Green woo 1 after some very violent words drew his revolver aud fund, missing his vicliiit, the ball passing lie. neon the eliouldor nnd head. Another bull however, accomplish the fatal work. This one took ell cot Dear the kidneys nnd passed immediately through the body, from the effects of which ho died in ahnut twelve hours. Stowart nuw furnished Green wood with his own pistol and a fleet horso and told him to be nir, swearing at III" same time that he would kill any one that would dure to lay hands no Greenwood. From the scone nf this dark deed tho foul perpetrator melted to tho Express Ranch, several miles this way, and alighted.' The landlady at that plaoo being alone with her children, vA grossly insulted, and well uigli frightened U death by the fugi tive fiond. Turning to ono of Ihe children quite a lad with pistol in hnnd, lie ordered him to wait on him at the bar, acontnpauying the demand with terrible oaths and menaces, at the same Mine s'rilting at the boy's head with the pistol. At this juuoture Mr. Cox, a neigh bor came in and seeing that the stranger was displeased with the boy, he very quietly remark ed that tho boy was mistaken or did not know any better. At this interference Greenwood made nil onslaught on Cox striking him over the, head with his pistol. Cox now drew his revolver and both parties fired ut the same time, each wounding Ihe' other in the ami, when Greenwood again precipitately lied, not halting until lie readied-the Straw Ranch, distant from that plneo about eight miles, where he was overhauled and captured. Near sunset a party of about twenty men arrived and took posses sion of the prisoner, one of them remarking to him tlmt if he wished ever to see tho sun again he bad better look at it now as it would be the last opportunity be would over have of doing so. Later in tho evening the parly was increased to about eighty men. The prisoner was taken to a juniper tree near by, when a rope having been ndjuated about hit neck, with whiskey mi his brain and murder in his heart, be was sus pended between the earth and sky to atone lor ins evil deeds. Here ho was left dangling in tho air in full sight of tho road, a solemn warn ing to evil doers to restrain tlieir evil propensi ties, until Saturday, when an inquest was held upon bis body and the loathsome object was nailed up iu a rough box and buried from tho sight of au outraged and indignant commu nity. I do not know tlio result of llm inquest held upon the body nf Kinnear. I think it should have been " whiskey killed him." If so, others are implicated in the dark deed and there are more accomplices too than one. Who shall say thnt the man who gave him the whiskey is not equally guilty with tho murderer. -He knew that whiskey would make some men mad and when mad that they were nticoiitroliihlc nnd were liable at any moment to commit murder, nnd he did not kiiow'wlien he was giving it to this man but that it would lead him to commit murder. True, he did not once think of this; but some men do think of these things, and yet their ungovernable desire to make money leads them to give poison to their fellow-man, and that too, tlie worst kind ol poison because it not i nly kills the first victim, body and roul, but it causes him also to onmmit murder. Tbe mines At Auburn, Pocahontas. Mormon Basio, Eagle Creek and Coaster, all iu this dis trict of country are, I understand, paying well.
