Previous to passing the ordinance, J. L. Hershner, one of t In largest property owners affected, and Hev Father I'ius, representing the Catholic church property, spoke earnestly in favor of the Improve ment. At the suggestion of A, W. Onthank, the ordinance was amend ed to provide crosswalks on the newly-graded streets. Anticipated action on the closing of moving picture shows and the skating rink on Sund'iy, brought out adherents for and against, and a remonstrance, containing ;nm names, against closing 'these places of public amusement was filed. Hev. J. B. Parsons spoke brlelly In favor of an ordinance presented, providing for closing the shows, and the latter was finally referred to the judiciary committee for a report at the next meeting, after checking up the mimes on both petition and remonstrance.
