First Apples Go Astray On Saturday, June 1H, saye the Mosler Dulletln, Amos Root shipped four boxes of Early Harvest apples to Dryer, Dollatn & Co., commission merchants of Portland. Monday's Journal said: "First new Oregon ap ples of the season were offering to day from Mosler. This Is the earliest that Oregon apples have entered the trade here, according to dealers, and this will give consumers a chance to get good quality and the trade will not be forced to Import the poor stuff from the south. 'We received word this morning that Amos Hoot of Mowier had dispatched the first shipment of new crop apples to mar ket, says V. H. ' Dryer of Dryer Uollam & Co., 'Four boxes were In the lot. The apples were of the Early Harvest variety.' " A letter recently received by Mr, Root from the commission firm states that t hey have never received the apples, and Mr. Itoot has never received any returns from them. Now the question Is, who got them? The Journal says that "Four boxes of Early Harvest variety appear on the street and ure of very good qual ity." How did they get "on the street" without going through Dryer Nullum & Co.'s hands? Mr. Itoot Is waiting for an explanation while the shipment Is being traced. History of Cotton.
