Doors open at 7:30 p.m. The ticket price is $15. Robb’s signature style has earned him internation- al acclaim from worldwide audiences, music critics and his distinguished peers. In- corporating elements from the Mississippi Delta music tradition, ragtime, country, swing and free jazz, Robb has built a blues sound that has made him a legend in a career spanning more than four decades. Robb has been induct- ed into both the Oregon Music Hall of Fame and the Cascade Blues Asso- ciation Hall of Fame. He single-handedly defined the Muddy Award for Best Acoustic Guitar, winning Wes Wahrmund Wahrmund offers evening of rich musical tradition SEASIDE — The Friends of the Seaside Library will host Cannon Beach guitarist Wes Wahrmund in the library’s Community Room, 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30. Wahrmund will present an evening of solo-guitar featuring folk music from around the world. Playing original compositions and improvisations, he will draw on varied influences from Europe, South Amer- ica, Africa, South Korea and America. His albums “Ituri,” “Speak Unity” and “Swallowtail” provide a sampling of the rich musi- cal tradition this talented guitarist has brought to the North Coast. This will be the second in a continuing series of concerts by Wahrmund at the Seaside Public Library. Wahrmund began per- forming solo and in groups in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1971. His musical career took him from his island home to San Francisco, Portland and, finally, the Oregon Coast. He has per- formed and taught guitar locally for many years. Upon his retirement from the competition in 2011, the award was renamed the “Terry Robb” Acoustic Guitar Muddy Award to honor his landmark con- tributions to blues music. In 2017, he received the Muddy Award for Lifetime Achievement. Born in British Colum- bia, Robb was raised in the U.S. and currently resides in Portland. With more than 15 al- bums under his name, Robb has collaborated with Eddy Clearwater, Maria Muldaur, Ike Willis, Curtis Salgado and Glen Moore, toured with Buddy Guy and Steve Miller, and shared the stage with B.B. King, Albert Lee, Joe Cocker, Bo Diddley, George Thorogood, Leo Kottke, Johnny Winter and many more all-stars. Advance tickets are available online at lib- ertyastoria.org. Hear musicians, see ‘Musicians’ at Seaside Public Library SEASIDE — Documentary filmmaker Ron Walker presents his film “Musicians of the North Coast” at the Seaside Public Library, 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. The event takes place in the Community Room. For his Ken Burns-style documentary, Walker sought out many local musicians and recorded their stories. Through interviews and live performances, Walker blends the musicians’ tales and the creative process involved in their music. As a special presentation, musi- cians from the film will be playing live at the event. Walker learned the craft of filmmaking when he worked as the resident music composer for the Film Loft in Portland in the 1980s. During this period, he composed the music for the Mount St. Helens film “This Place in Time,” which is shown at the Mount St. Helens Interpretive center. Walker shoots, edits and composes the music for the films he produces. His films are about people, their hob- bies and passions and often feature historical themes centered on the North Coast.
