Astoria Warming Center — 1076 Franklin Ave. Winter overnight emergency shelter for homeless persons needs volunteers for three- hour shifts from evening through the night to help with welcoming guests, serving dinner, cleaning the kitchen, monitoring the sleeping area over- night, and closing the shelter in the morning. Hole Sponsorships are available at three levels: Diamond Sponsor, $300; Platinum Sponsor, $200; and Gold Sponsor, $100. TNRF involves setting and/or monitoring traps, and daily feeding of cats and main- tenance of any shelters, and is a proven, science-based method that along with spay/neuter programs is the only effective and humane way of ending cat homelessness and suffering. Dog sanctuary seeks items for rummage sale fundraiser The Daily Astorian WARRENTON — Angels For Sara Sanctuary for senior dogs is holding its fifth annual Rummage and Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 17 and 18, at 269 S. Main Ave. in Warrenton, to raise funds to support the sanctuary, which is entirely funded by donations. One hundred percent of funds raised go toward care of the dogs. Anyone interested in donating gently-used or new items for the rum- mage sale should call 503- 325-2772 and leave a mes- sage. The event is also a can drive, and there will be bins set out to collect cans and plastic bottles (no glass).
