Froome, who is eighth over- all after nine stages, is 1 minute, 42 seconds behind yellow-jersey holder Greg Van Avermaet before the first Alpine stage on Tuesday. Van Avermaet is not expected to be a threat in the mountains, and Froome suggested the Belgian “will find it difficult to hang on tomor- row. It’s a proper climbers stage.” Hulk Hogan reinstated into wrestling Hall of Fame ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. has reinstated Hulk Hogan to its Hall of Fame, three years after he was found to have used racial slurs in a conversation caught on a sex tape. The Connecticut-based com- pany made the announcement in a statement Sunday. “This second chance follows Hogan’s numerous public apolo- gies and volunteering to work with young people, where he is helping them learn from his mistake,” the organization wrote. Bolt to make run at pro soccer in Australia SYDNEY — Usain Bolt is making a run at professional soc- cer in Australia. The Olympic sprint great has long expressed his love of the game. Since his retirement from track, he has tested himself with Germany’s Borussia Dort- mund and the Norwegian club Stromsgodset. Now, at 31, he will try out for six weeks with the Central Coast Mariners starting next month. If all goes well, he could play for a season in Australia’s A-League. Kids learn how to survive, the Lewis and Clark way By GARY HENLEY The Daily Astorian A nother week of outdoor sum- mer activities in the Lewis and Clark National Histori- cal Park. Educators from the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership and the park are leading two week-long camps, both featuring overnight camping opportunities. Last week, kids who will be enter- ing the fourth through sixth grades took part in the “Nature Adventure Camp,” spending a night at Fort Clatsop and exploring the woods, water and animals in and around the national park. This week, it’s the “Nature Sur- vival Camp,” as kids entering the seventh through ninth grades take to the water and the woods, practicing skills to survive in nature, including navigation and foraging. Monday, campers spent a good part of the day on the water, kayak- ing up and down the Lewis and Clark (Netul) River, near Fort Clatsop. And the theme for the day was “realism,” from the number of kay- akers on the water, to putting practi- cal survival skills to good use, as one kayak overturned and dumped boat- ers into a swift-moving river, with the tide coming in. Boaters share a few laughs. All made it out safely. “We’ve got 29 kids and four chaperones in the kayaks, making it 33, same as the (Lewis and Clark) expedition,” said park ranger Cathy Petersen, education program coordi- nator for the National Park Service. “And we had some go in the water … just like the expedition.” And, like the original Corps of Discovery, kids were paddling up and down the Netul River, from the boat ramp at Netul landing to the shelter and picnic area, where they all received some candy and sweets (not like the Corps of Discovery). The Nature Survival Camp con- tinues Tuesday, with an overnight camping trip to the beach Wednes- day and Thursday. Three boaters got wet when their kayak collided with another and overturned. SCHEDULE A - Charter Astoria/ Seaside - L - Charter Long Beach COLUMBUS, Ohio — Four former wrestlers say in a law- suit that Ohio State Univer- sity officials ignored repeated complaints about a now-dead team doctor and failed to stop his “rampant sexual miscon- duct” that went on nearly two decades. The lawsuit describes Rich- ard Strauss, who killed himself after retiring from the univer- sity, as “a prolific sexual pred- ator” who might have assaulted 1,500 or more male students at Ohio State. Athletes who alerted offi- cials about Strauss felt their complaints were futile and that the doctor was above the law in the eyes of the university, according to the federal lawsuit filed Monday. Among the allegations in the lawsuit is that two wrestlers met with former Athletic Director Andy Geiger during the 1994- 1995 season and complained about voyeurism and lewd acts by Strauss and other men at their practice facility. The lawsuit says the univer- sity didn’t take action or agree to move the team’s practices following that meeting. The team did move into a new build- ing about eight years later. Geiger told The Associ- ated Press a week ago that he did not remember meeting with the wrestlers or any complaints about Strauss. But he said he did speak with former wrestling coach Russ Hellickson about voyeurism in the showers. Hellickson also has denied knowing about any abuse by Strauss. Message seeking comment about the lawsuit were left with Ohio State on Tuesday. The four wrestlers, whose names were not listed in the lawsuit, say Strauss sexually assaulted or harassed them in the late 1980s or 1990s. The university in April announced that independent investigators were looking into allegations that Strauss fondled and groped male athletes during physical examinations and med- ical treatment. His family has said they were “shocked and saddened” to learn of the allegations. Strauss joined Ohio State in 1978 and retired as a professor in 1998.
