LONG BEACH PENINSULA — The ninth annual Oysterville Artisan Fair takes place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 30, through Monday, July 2 — three days filled with paintings, pottery, jewelry, photography, metal art, concrete and glass. Rose Power’s spinning wheel turns out exquisite yarns. Janet Herring will weave tiny cranberry vines into small baskets. Judy Cox will create iris folded cards both beautiful and functional. Harmony Soaps, made in Oysterville, will share their soap-making skills. They create a rich variety of unique soaps; you can buy a dog wash, shaving soap, even a bar of shampoo great for camping. The Peninsula Potters will demonstrate clay work by hand and on the wheel. They are planning two horsehair pottery firings during the show. Pots will be available for participants to purchase. The show will have wonder- ful ceramics with both Vicki Sullivan and Karen Brownlee filling their tents. Their func- A garden sculpture by Susan Raymond tional pots will enhance every kitchen. From Ocean Park, painter Betty Lu Krause illustrates the wild side of the Northwest. From ocean to forest, she is in touch with nature and cap- tures its beauty and wonder. From the Surfside area, metal artist Don Perry hand cuts every item that can adorn your home inside or outside, and artist Somsri Hoffman paints pirate ships on boat oars, breadboards and tiles. Painter Sherry Bosch is known for her sunflowers and pears, but you will love her fields of flowers and rustic Betty Lu Krause, a local painter landscapes. The local glass artists are stocked with beau- tiful items. Taylor Marye-Baker will be face painting, and she al- ways adds magic and balloon animals to her shows. Impressing Ideas in the Surfside Mall, which encour- ages locals to create art from paper, is new to the Peninsula. Come see quick demonstra- tions and exceptional music. You’ll find a new creative out- let while you visit our shore. There will be local photogra- phy, mosaics, fairy furniture, book making and fun! Take the opportunity to visit the schoolhouse that was built in 1907 and stroll around historic Oysterville, founded in 1854.
