Anchor Ave., from 6:15 to 8:35 p.m. Monday through June 29 for kids from preschool to those entering the sixth grade. There are Bible-learn- ing activities, songs, team- work-building games and make and eat treats. The kids will also join a mis- sion’s effort to provide seeds for families in Haiti to grow food. Our Saviour’s Lutheran SEASIDE — Our Sav- iour’s Lutheran Church in Seaside has announced that the Rev. Susan “Pastor Sue” Irvin is its next pastor. She and her husband Tim, are coming from St. Paul’s Lutheran in Nordheim, Texas. Her ministry begins July 22, replacing interim pastor Curtis Zieske. Irvin grew up in Pennsyl- vania and has a bachelor’s degree in history from San Jose State University. She studied in the Parish Minis- try Training Program, then began the Theological Edu- cation for Emerging Minis- tries (TEEM) program at the Lutheran Seminary Program in the Southwest (LSPS) in Austin, Texas. The Daily Astorian The North Coast Chapter of ABATE of Oregon hosts its 24th annual Around Sad- dle Mountain Run Saturday. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Astoria Moose Lodge, 420 17th St. The motorcycle run departs at 10 a.m. with stops at Camp 18, Vernonia, Jewell and the Big O Saloon in Olney. The cost is $20 per person, which includes a meal at the end of the run. All motorcycles and riders are welcome to enjoy the sce- nic ride, meet new friends and riders, have a chance to win raf- fle items and prizes and enjoy a meal. Astoria Warming Center — 1076 Franklin Ave. Winter overnight emergency shelter for homeless persons needs volunteers for three- hour shifts from evening through the night to help with welcoming guests, serving dinner, cleaning the kitchen, monitoring the sleeping area over- night, and closing the shelter in the morning. Volunteers also needed for weekly litter patrols in the neigh- borhood. The Daily Astorian The Disabled American Veterans’ van is currently short of drivers, and can- not provide uninterrupted service to veterans. Volun- teers are needed one or two days a month to drive the van, which departs from the parking lot on Marine Drive just west of Burger King at 7 a.m. to deliver veterans to their appoint- ments at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Portland. The van returns to Astoria in the afternoon. Clatsop Care Center — Vol- unteers needed daily for all three meals to provide one-on-one as- sistance to dining dependent resi- dents.
