JUNE 7, 2018 // 9 16 June 9 ASTORIA — The final Astoria Second Saturday Art Walk of spring 2018 takes place 5 to 8 p.m. June 9. It’s a chance to enjoy new art, chat with artists and art-lovers, and savor refreshments and the lively downtown nightlife. (Some loca- tions open and close earlier and later.) 1. Torberson primarily works in steel, creating custom iron- work for homes and public spaces. Featured pieces will be designed and fabricated from found objects. 3. McVarish Gallery 6. Imogen Gallery 1060 10 St. Presenting paintings by Brian Sostrom. Living in Idaho, Sostrom grew up in the Pacific Northwest with strong ties to Astoria. If any painter can paint weather, he can, using open acrylic on panel and creating mes- merizing scenes of clouds and water. These paintings are breathtaking. 240 11th St. Linked by backgrounds in farming and animal husbandry, we present a dual exhibition for Kim Hamblin and Christopher Wagner. Hamblin’s series of intricate hand-cut paper assemblages explore her ongoing interest in mycology (mushrooms). Wagner provides carved and painted reclaimed wood sculpture depicting man’s relationship with animals, plus his interest in mythology. 2. KALA 4. AVA Artist-in- Residence 80 11th St. (above Coldwater Skate & Surf Shop) Jill Mulholland uses light as her primary medium, creating works based in color, reflection, glow and shadow.
