Cruise ship Regatta bypasses Astoria The Daily Astorian A Thursday visit by the Regatta has been canceled. The cruise ship was scheduled to bring more than 600 passengers to the Port of Astoria. The luxury cruise ship Silver Explorer, which visited Astoria earlier this month, is still scheduled to dock from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Bruce Conner, cruise ship marketer for the Port, said the Regatta had to sail farther out to sea to bypass Navy maneu- vers and lost a day of travel amid inclement weather. The ship is bypassing Astoria to reach Ketchikan, Alaska, on time, he said. The Regatta is scheduled to return to Astoria in Octo- ber.
