College MERTS campus holds open house
ASTORIA — The community
is invited to the MERTS cam-
pus open house 10 a.m. to 3
p.m. Friday, May 4. This excit-
ing one-day event includes fun
activities for all ages, demon-
strations and vendor displays.
The Clatsop Community
College MERTS (Marine and
Environmental Research and
Training Station) campus,
Oregon’s designated Maritime
Training College, houses the
College’s Maritime Science
Department, Fire Response &
Research Center, the Living
Machine and the Industrial &
Manufacturing Technology
Center, including Automotive
Technology, Welding and
Historic Preservation and
Restoration.
All programs will fea-
ture displays and interactive

virtual welding machine and
explore the National Guard
and Air National Guard
displays.
The MERTS campus is
located three miles east of
Astoria off U.S. Route 30
on Liberty Lane. Enjoy the
afternoon visiting the cam-
pus and explore the Clatsop
Community College MERTS
educational facilities.

ASTORIA — “The Stars are
Out Tonight” at the Clatsop
Community College Founda-
tion’s annual Arts & Expe-
riences Auction & Dinner
scholarship fundraiser. Com-
munity members are invited
to attend the evening event
that will be celebrating CCC
stars — students, employees,
donors, guests and volunteers
— on Saturday, May 5, in
Patriot Hall on the Clatsop
Community College Lexing-
ton campus in Astoria.
Doors open at 5 p.m.

complimentary champagne

the college Foundation chair.
Attendees may bid on
auction items including
works of art provided by
local and regional artists, and
experiences such as trips to
Italy, Bali and regional expe-
rience packages. The Silver
Salmon Grille will provide
dinner.
