Fort George to expand seating By EDWARD STRATTON The Daily Astorian Fort George Brewery is planning to climate control and double its outdoor seating. In the fall, the brewery will start construction on a steel- and-glass enclosure around the patio in its courtyard, add- ing an equal-size patio on the second story with a sky bridge to the brewery’s garden and parking area along Exchange Street. Co-owner Jack Harris said the brewery, only able to use its outdoor seating about four months out of the year because of foul weather, has been think- ing about the expansion for a few years. The brewery, which opened in 2006, has grown quickly, surpassing its 10-year growth plan in two years. “We used to think we had too much space, but now we’re counting every nook and cranny,” Harris said. He said construction will start in October, with a goal to fi nish by the popular Festival of Dark Arts stout beer festival in February.
