CLATSOP COUNTY WOMEN IN THE WORKFORCE Robin Risley According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Quarterly Workforce Indicators program, in 2015 about half (49.4%) of the county’s workers were women. There were 7,964 male workers and 7,786 female workers. Love of adventure, hunger for knowledge and appreciation for the land is in my blood. Average monthly earnings for men in Clatsop County from the 4th quarter of 2014 through the 3rd quarter of 2015 (most recent data available) was $3,464 while average monthly earnings for women in the same time period was $2,389 or 69% of the earnings of males. From 2005 to 2015, the number of women in the workforce in Clatsop County has grown at about the same rate (6.8%) as the number of men in the workforce (6.7%). According to the U.S. Census American Community Survey 2010 – 2014 estimates, of the Clatsop County population age 20 to 64, about 72% of women are in the labor force while 82% of men are in the labor force.
