THE DAILY ASTORIAN • MONDAY, APRIL 27, 2015 FEATURES 5A She feels like a houseguest Tomorrow’s horoscope Dear Annie: Two years ago, I made a big mistake. I married a widower and agreed to move into his house in a large city that is a 30-minute drive from the small town I love living in. I now realize that I absolutely hate living in the city and, more importantly, living in the home that he and his late wife picked out and decorated together. Initially, he said I could make changes to the house, but the only changes he is willing to make involve replacing worn-out things with newer ver- sions of the exact same style and color. I thought I could redecorate using some of his things and some of mine to make a home of our own. Instead, I feel like a perma- nent houseguest. I love my husband, and our re- lationship is wonderful except for this issue. Here’s the real prob- lem: I recently learned that I have metastatic breast cancer. I cannot bear the thought of living what’s left of my life in his house and in this city. Three years ago, he said he’d move into a condo in five years. Last month, he said the same thing. I know he’s not ready. But he is 81, and I am 70, and it’s time to down- ARIES (March 21-April 19). Full-grown people need full-grown love. You won’t dig- nify childish antics with attention unless the perpetrator is actually a child. Adults acting childishly will stop when they see that their behavior doesn’t sway you in the least. TAURUS (April 20-May 20). It may seem that you have to do everything on your own, but you don’t. If you’re not accepting help, you’re working too hard. You don’t even have to ask for help. All you have to do is less, and others will fill in the gaps. GEMINI (May 21-June 21). People usu- ally live to the limits of their thinking. Ex- posures to new influences will help break through those limits. One of the most enjoy- able ways to change your life is to fantasize your way into a different one. CANCER (June 22-July 22). Hollow and false encouragement will be experienced as such. One person can only encourage another insofar as they actually believe the aim can be accomplished. What do you be- lieve is possible? LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). When your peo- ple count their blessings, they count you as one of them. Maybe it’s the way you see the potential in them and envision a better future for them than the one they see. VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). It’s difficult not to project your patterns and desires onto those who are so much like you, but because you believe in the sacredness of each human being, you resist. LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You’re not sure how to deal kindly with a certain difficult indi- vidual. Start by dealing kindly with someone dear to you. “To love deeply in one direction makes us more loving in all others.” — Ma- Annie’s Mailbox Creators Syndicate Inc. Kathy Mitchell and Marcy Sugar size. He knows how I feel, because we’ve had quite a few discussions about it. But because he’s most likely going to outlive me, I don’t feel it’s fair to ask him to move to another place when he doesn’t want to. He owns a condo in my home- town that he rents out. I own a house that is rented out, although mine still has a small mortgage on it. I’m thinking of asking him not to renew the rental on his condo so we can stay there some of the time and in his home the rest of the time. I am so torn inside. What do you think? — T. Dear T.: We think you have suggested an excellent compro- mise — live in the condo part of the time, and in his house for the rest. You also could stop renting your house and live there part of the time. Should your husband outlive you, he can move wher- ever he chooses. Right now, you should not be stressed about your living situation, and we hope your husband cares enough to make you as comfortable as possible. We think he will want to do what- ever he can. Dear Annie: You printed a let- ter from “M.W.,” who doesn’t like to travel because she suffers from motion sickness. When I lost the sight in one eye, my ophthalmologist said I’d no lon- ger get airsick or carsick. He said a NASA astronaut discovered that by closing one eye, the dizziness from the effects of being weight- less went away. He was right. I can now fly and look out the plane win- dow or read while riding in a car and suffer no ill effects. I have told several people who suffer from carsickness to close one eye or wear an eye patch, and they have reported back that it worked for them. Maybe this will help others. — One Advantage Dear Advantage: Thanks for the interesting suggestion. We hadn’t heard of this before, and we hope our readers who have this problem will try your solution. FRANK AND ERNEST BLONDIE THATABABY SALLY FORTH STONE SOUP B.C. Worry is like the late afternoon sun: It gives a long shad- ow small things. One of your more practical friends (perhaps a Virgo or Capricorn) will help you keep things in perspective. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Bal- ancing solitude and sociability is tricky for you now because people keep asking you to do things with them, and you keep saying yes. That’s why you have to schedule soli- tude on the books as you would any other date. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). It may feel like the train is moving, you’re already on board and there’s no getting off. But that’s not the way it really is. This is your life, time and schedule. If it oppresses you, change it. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You have reached a level of true friendship with some that allows you to stand comfortably togeth- er in silence. That doesn’t mean you should let this happen too often, though. Conversa- tional effort will be rewarded. PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Niceties are the very least of what you expect from a good relationship. You want poetry. These high hopes and optimistic wishes will keep you from landing in a rut. TUESDAY’S BIRTHDAY (April 28). You have many advantages, and you play them this year. In May, you’ll make money as a result of reestablishing contact with enthu- siastic people. Your timing is impeccable in June, especially when it comes to love. You’ll show up right when you are needed and will be appreciated and adored for it. Scorpio and Capricorn people adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 1, 14, 3, 33 and 17.
