Seaside search and rescue ¿nds lost resident By ERICK BENGEL EO Media Group SEASIDE — A Seaside resident who got lost near the Cove Friday was found safe and unharmed after a nearly nine-hour multiagency search-and-rescue operation. Annette Birkholz, 52, was hiking through for- ested Tillamook Head trails when darkness fell, fog rolled in and rain began to pour. She called 911 shortly after 5 p.m. Almost 20 personnel — from the Seaside Fire Department, the Seaside Police Department and the Clatsop &RXQW\ 6KHULII¶V 2I¿FH ² EHFDPH LQYROYHG LQ the search, according to Seaside Fire Chief Joey Daniels. Birkholz remained in touch with the search- and-rescue team throughout the operation. Using her cellphone data, they pinpointed Birkholz’s whereabouts and eventually located her near Rip- pet Lane around 1:45 a.m. Saturday.
