Mrs. Viola Douglass, Miss Blna Douglass and Mr. McMann ot Portland vera out to Eagle Creek Sunday. Mr. and Mra. Malcolm Woodle, of Troutdale, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Woodle Sunday. Mr .and Mra. S. J. Eddy and son, Bruce, of Portland were the week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Gib son. ' . Robert Moehnke was the guests of his sister, Mrs. Roy Douglass recently. Mrs. Anaiv Beckett was out this way Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Douglass of Esta- cada were visiting at the home ot Walter Douglass Sunday afternoon. Alter a short Illness James, Jr., Gib son died May, 13, 1920 at the home ot his son, Halley F. Gibson, of Barton. James Jr. Gibson was born near Cin cinnati!, Ohio, April 8, 1826. In 1860 he married Mrs. Emily Gibson and tnre were born ot this union seven children, six of whom are living. Hen an S. Gibson and Richard B. Gibson, of Eagle Creek; Harvey and Halley F. Gibson of Barton; Mrs. Nora Reld, of Estacada; and Mrs. Cora M. Udell, of Dover. In 1867 Mr. Gibson crossed the plains, coming to Oregon and set tling first at La Grande, then In 1868 moving to Eagle Creek, where he has since resided, with the exception of he pant four or five years, Wlien he; has lived with his son, Halley, of Bar ion. The funeral services were held at the home of Halley Gibson a ill: .in, May 16, 1920. Rev. McLennon, of Springwater, officiating. Interment was In the Gibson cemetery. George Snell of Portland, closed a deal through the fury Real Estate Co., Monday for the purchase of a 40 acre farm at Blssell, norlh ot Esta cada. The farm belonged to Mrs. Elizabeth Rath, of Portland. Mr. Snell will move onto the place some time this summer. Brenton Vedder of Gladstone was an Estacada vhiltor last Friday night to attend the entertainment given by the grade school. Harry B. Harper and wife were In Estacada Monday looking for a resi dence as they expect to come here to reside shortly. Mr. .Harper Is a con ductor for the P. R.' L. & P. Co., and is soon to take the place of Conductor Grabcl, who has the early morning train and retnrnlng at 6:30 at night. 'Quite a number from this locality attended the funeral of James Jr. Gib son at Eagle Creek last Sunday room ing. Mr. Gibson was one ot the oldest settlers at Eagle Creek, having lived there for 62 years and was 94 years of age. - Mrs. Viola Douglass of Portland, ! was a guest at the home of her son Ed. Douglass Sunday night. 1 The Estacada schools close this week and with the exams and social functions and pupils, teachers and patrons are kept very busy.
