(Special) A very pretty wedding took place on Main street at the home of the bride's parents. Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Picker son, last evening at 4:30 o'clock when Miss Mary Mckerson became !he bride of P-enJamin O. Cole. The bride wore a beautiful (town of white brocaded satin and shadow lace. She carried a bouquet of Kaster lillies. Miss Rlrdie Dickenson, sister of the bride, and Mr. nurrel Cole, brother of the groom were bridesmaid and best man. Miss lllrdle Dlckerson was dressed In a lovely frown of pink satin and carried a bouquet of white roses. As Fred Eymyn played the wedding march the bridesmaid and best man entered the parlor, followed by the bride and groom and the wedding party took their place under an arch of fern and chiffon. Rev. Coleman, pastor of the Methodist church offici ated. After the ceremony a wedding lunch eon was served by the Misses Ethel Wells, Golda Harless and Maude Stein lnger. Miss Wells wore a becoming dress of pink silk poplin, while Miss Stetnlnger and Miss Ha.-less were at tractively gowned In white voile. The table was beautifully decorated with carnations and ferns. Pink and white was the color scheme and the house was adorned with lilacs. The guests present were: Mrs. Fred Painter, 0. K. Cole, Mr. and Mrs. Flave Painter and children, Walter and Flavllle, Edgar May, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Cole, Misses Anerta and vida toie, Furrel Cole, Misses Maude Steininger. Birdie Dlckerson, Ethel Wells and Golda Harless. Mr. and Mrs. W. 0. Dlckerson, Mrs. W. F. Echerd. Fred Eyman. C. W. Dlckerson and Mrs. Ui zie Sinnegan. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Dlckerson and has a host of friends here. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J .R. Cole and is in the commission business. All their friends unite in wishing them a long and happy life of wedded bliss. The happy couple departed last night by auto to Oregon City. They will spend a few days' wedding trip in Seattle, after which they will be at home to their friends in Molaila. ACID CAUSES VERY SERIOUS ILLNESS THOMAS READ, OF MOLALLA, IS TAKEN TO PORTLAND Molaila. Ore., April 10. (Special) Thomas E. .Read, a farmer living near Liberal, was taken to the hospital in ! Portland yesterday. Wednesday noon! as he was unhitching his horses, his sister-in-law, Mrs. Herbert Odean,1 who also lives at that ranch, saw him fall to the ground and the horses run : away. She rushed to his side and ; found him In a dead faint. Then she called his wife, Mrs. Marie Read, who ! came with Walter Finally. The sick man was restored to consciousness. About a week ago Mrs. Read accl-i dently spilled a quart bottle of formal dehyde on the kitchen floor. Being ; overcome by the fumes she called her husband In. Mr. Read spent consid- j erable time trying to clean the disin fectant up but did not wholly succeed. ! In doing this however he inhaled the fumes of the formaldehyde and was unable to speak for several hours. 1 Since that time he has been unable to keep any thing on his stomach and it 1 is thought that the effect of the acid on hihs stomach brought on the faint Wednesday noon. The women were frantic and Mrs. Read hastened her husband to the hos pital In Portland today. Mrs. Read said that the doctors have told Mr. Read for a long time that he needed an operation for stomach trouble and that now such an operation will prob ably be absolutely necessary before he recovers his health. MOLALLA COUNCIL KILLS FRANCHISE SIDEWALKS ARE ORDERED ON TWO MAIN THOROUGHFARES Molaila, Ore., April 15. (Special) Both the M. J. Lee and the Fred Schafer franchises were turned down by the Molaila council last night. The franchises, which have been before the council lor several meetings cover the priviledge of furnishing the city with electricity. A sidewalk was ordered constructed on both sides of Main street to the grange ball and on both sides of Mo laila avenue to the city limits. This street improvement Is one of the most extensive which has been ordered by the council here. BOYS ADVISED TO COOK Mrs. J. R. Wolff Speaks Before Molaila High School Students Molaila. Ore., April 14. (SpeHaD Mrs. J. R. Wolff, district advisor for the Industrial club, addressed the Mo laila High school students yesterday. She read the list of premiums for the county fair and encouraged everyone j to go to work and do something fori the fair. Mrs. Wolff suggested that i the boys enter the cooking contest. The students were very enthusiastic and are resolved that Molaila shall car ry off as many of the county prizes as It is possible for them to do so. Mrs Wolff will give another talk on club projects within a few days. EASTER OBSERVED BY CHURCH Molaila Methodists Give Program In Honor of Day Molaila, Ore, April 13. (Special) The Methodist Sunday school gave an Easier program at the church last night. A large crowd was present and greatly enjoyed the music, declama tlons and exercises. Rev. 8. L. Witty pastor of the Church of Christ spoke about the "Crucifixion and Resurrec tion of Christ." The Ea.-ter offering was taken up. The church was beau tifully decorated In honor of the occa sion. MOLALLA 2. NEEDY 3. Molaila, Ore, April 13. (Special) The Molaila grammar school baseball team went to Maxburg Saturday after noon and played a game with Needy. The score was 2 to J in favor of Needy. They win play F.aatham at this place next Saturday. INVASION OF CAN BY PLANNED Youthful Molaila Actors Will Visit Neighboring Town Molaila. Ore.. April U. Ore.. April 14. (Special) C. R. McCalley presented a program of imitations at Tobln's hall last night under the auspices of the Molaila band. The evening's entertainment consisted of reading James Whit comb Riley and imitations on the vi olin. A large crowd was present. MOLALLA WINS IN RAIN Molaila, Ore., April 13. (Special) The Molaila Stars played a lively game of baseball at Liberal yesterday. Four Innings were played in the rain. The score stood 6 to four in favor of the local team. Easter services were held In both churches last Sabbath morning. An ep idemic of measles interfered with the carrying out of programs in full, but did not mar the spirit of the day, nor binder a fair attendance This epidemic seems to have been confined to the children and so far as we learn there have been no serious complications and most cases are well on the way to recovery. HONORS CLACKAMAS REBEKAHS RETURN FROM SALEM WITH CUP Canhy, Ore., April 11. (Special) After six hours of almost constant drilling, the I'anby llebekah lodge de- i cne team won the sliver cup over j stlvorton and Woodhurn at the con test at Salem hist night. The drilling began shortly after S o clock In the e piling and It was S o'clock In the following morning before the Judges were able to declare the winners. The cup was brought to Canbv by the team this morning Biid a delega tion met the party at the train to greet the winners. (Special) The funeral service of I'lrtch Kunxl was held this afternoon In the English Evangelical church at 2 o'clock. Mr. Kunii. who has been a resident of Canby for the last 17 years died last Saturday at the home of his daughter. Mrs. I.. Eaton at the age of 84 years. Mr. Kmul was born In Swltierland. H. He Is survived by a wife and eight chil dren: Christ Kunzl. Gottlelb Kunii, of Canemah: Carl Kunzl. of San Francis co. Cal.: Isaac Kunzl. of Idaho; Mrs. Mosemaun. of Hold. J. for a light al"l water system. It was finally de cided that the council would draw up the franchise to suit themselves, then present It to Mr. !e. It will probably he brought up for its first reading at the next meeting. Mr. Lee brought In a petition to the meeting last night with 214 signatures of persons who are In favor of granting the franchise. Allen, of Portland, a Sun day School Missionary, was out this way Saturday and attended the con cert at the school house. .Inmes Gibson celebrated his 8Rth birth day Sunday, about thirty of his rela tives being present and taking dinner with him. Four generations of the Gibson family were present. Among those nresent were his sons, H. CI, liar- vev. H. F. and R. II. Olbson; his daughters, Mrs. Nora Reld and Mrs, IVira Udell. Miss Maggie Ellsworth of Estacada, took some pictures of the crowd. H. S. Olbson, Ed Douglass, and Pete Clester. assisted by some of their neighbors, butchered 23 hogs Monday, Ed taking them to Portland Tuesday by wagon.
