Mr. and Mrs. txo Mvtnpston, who have been vlnltlnR with the latter's parents, left for Mullno Inst week. Mr. Danlelson, our merchant, was at Oregon City to Ret a load of sup plies Krlday, and returned Saturday. Mr. Stewart left for Portland last week. Miss E. I Applosate was visiting with Miss Fredeborg Hult last Sun day.' Mr. llonney was busy butchering hoes and beef last week. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Peck, of Shu bel, were visiting at the latter's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Countryman, last Monday. A special school meeting was held at the Colton school house and a three-mill tax was voted. Mr. Ander son was elected director In the place of Mr. Countryman. Some of the young folks of Colton attended the Thanksgiving party at Mr. Vallens of El wood, last Thursday evening. Quite a crowd gathered and a fine time Is reported. Mr. Anderson was at Oregon City on business last week. Jake Schiewe. who had been away to Washington and Idaho, came home last Thursday. Adolph Freeman, of Elwood, was a visitor at Colton last Sunday. J. McConnoll Is helping Mr. Penney to do some slashing. W. Gorbett and Lew Hubbard took some beef cattle to town last week. O. Schiewe, of Mullno, .. left last Wednesday to attend school at Colfax. Washington. C. Stromgreen butchered several hogs last Monday and supplied the neighbors with meat. Mr. Swanson was busy hauling hay last week. A large supply of fruit trees from the Albany Nursery arrived here at Colton last week, most of them for the new settlers. J. Put and wife were at Oregon City Saturday. Preparations are being made for a Christmas tree at the Swedish Church. SHUBEL. Porn, to tho wife of Rev. Flehelkorn, on the 20th Inst, a little girl. Mr. and Mrs. Kd Hettman and a number of friends, of Clarke, visited with the former's parents hero this afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Wenger, of Salem, vis Ited with her parents, 'Mr. and Mr.. Garfield sold three lots on Seventh street and C avenue to Mr. Rosencrans, who recently arrived from the East. Misteltoe Lodge, Degree of Honor, gave a dance at the Grange hall, Thanksgiving eve. Mrs. F. Whittier Is visiting relatives in Oregon City for a few weeks. Mrs. A. King Wilson and daughter Mary have returned home from La Grande, where they had been visiting friends. Mrs. C. Anderson, who recently came from the East, was Tisiting Os wego friends Sunday. Miss Florence Volckers. of Port land, was the guest of Mrs. 0. An derson last week. STAFFORD. It has been raining ith an occa sional sust of wind since the last I change of the moon, so we have anx iously looked to Monday night and the new moon to bring us hotter j weather, and time will tell, though at i the present the outlook for good I weather for Thanksgiving does not look very promising. Mr Nimie promised to be good, put another mortgage on his place, paid j off his hop-pickers and everything seems lovely. Mark Haker has a valuable dog. w ith whose help .Mark, and the hoys of the neighborhood have succeeded in kill ing a lot of foxes, coons and other varmints which had been killing farm ers' young pigs. etc. Mr. and Mrs. Claus Peters, and Miss Minnie Peckman spent a pleasant ev ening at Mr. Gage's one evening last week. Mrs. Powell made a few neighborly calls Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Aerni spent Sunday at Mr. Keller's. A young fellow collecting Junk ap I peared in our midst a few days ago. Didn't seem to load up very fast. CLARKES. REDLAND. Win. Stone, Jr., came home from Salem, where he is going to school, to spend Thanksgiving. Mrs. Cassle Ferrel. of Portland, spent Thanksgiving with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Wilcox. Mr. Kerr moved from Logan to his farm .here, which he bought about a year ago. D. R. Mosher joined his wife and baby at her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stone, to spend Thanksgiving. Mr. Agerman moved from Molalla onto the Welsmandel place, which he purchased during the summer. William Bonney is sawing, wood with his engine and drag saw for Mr. Barrett this week. Mrs. O. A. Hollingsworth has gone to Portland to spend a few days with her sister, Mrs. Ray Miller. Mr. Davis left for Walla Walla Sat urday to see his mother, who is re ported very sick. Mr. Seltzer, who was crippled in a runaway accident a short time ago, is improving, and it is hoped will soon be able to be out again. Mi is Kate Snodgrass spent Thanks giving with her parents at Mulino. Mr. and Mrs. Charley Daniels are the proud possessors of an 11 pound boy. bom November 27. Mrs. Greaves, from Kelso, is out visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Larkins. over Thanksgiving. J. Schiewe is back home again for the present. Albert Larkins was out coon hunting for the past week. Mr. Bottemiller made a trip to Mil waukee last Friday and Saturday. We had some pretty hard frosts last week. We also have plenty of mud. William Miller has moved to his old home again. The English M. E. Church Is pre paring for a Christmas tree. MEADOW BROOK. Thanksgiving has come and gone, the way of all the world. A still man gathers no moss, but a rolling stone is the noblest work of God. Pofessor Dibble spent Thanksgiving visiting home folks and looking at his best girl, and keeping an eye on the other fellow. Mr. and Mrs. Holman made a busi ness trip to Portland Wednesday and ate turkeys Thursday. The Noon saw mill has moved out, having secured a location near Cor vallls, where the proprietor wHl en gage in the sawmllllng business on a large scale. Mr. Schaffer says T. A. F. T. Is the combination that will open the door to prosperity. J. W. Staudlnger was visiting his wife's people Sunday. O. T. Kay returned home Saturday from Viola, where he had been visit ing for a few weeks with his daugh ters, Mrs. Staudlnger and Mrs. Hunt. J. W. Staudlnger has purchased a gasoline engine, and will soon have It fitted up ready for business. Mr. Kirk butchered a fine lot of pork Monday. Meadowbrook now has its school grounds fenced with a new woven wire fence. The Oregon Nursery Company of Salem, made a delivery of trees at this place last week. The Oregon Nursery Company sends out nothing but first-class stock. The customers are well pleased with their trees. B. F. Nojer has started his grub bing machine to work on that little corner of grabs that he failed to get jut last spring. When that Is finished it will be 100 acres for him. We go to Sunday school and study the history of the children of Israel, but our big boys are studying the his tory of the children of Abraham. Summons.
