Mr. Danlelson, our merchant, was
at Oregon City to Ret a load of sup
plies Krlday, and returned Saturday.
Mr. Stewart left for Portland last
week.
Miss E. I Applosate was visiting
with Miss Fredeborg Hult last Sun
day.' Mr. llonney was busy butchering
hoes and beef last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Peck, of Shu
bel, were visiting at the latter's par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Countryman,
last Monday.
A special school meeting was held
at the Colton school house and a
three-mill tax was voted. Mr. Ander
son was elected director In the place
of Mr. Countryman.
Some of the young folks of Colton
attended the Thanksgiving party at
Mr. Vallens of El wood, last Thursday
evening. Quite a crowd gathered and
a fine time Is reported.
Mr. Anderson was at Oregon City
on business last week.
Jake Schiewe. who had been away
to Washington and Idaho, came home
last Thursday.
Adolph Freeman, of Elwood, was a
visitor at Colton last Sunday.
J. McConnoll Is helping Mr. Penney
to do some slashing.
W. Gorbett and Lew Hubbard took
some beef cattle to town last week.
O. Schiewe, of Mullno, .. left last
Wednesday to attend school at Colfax.

C. Stromgreen butchered several
hogs last Monday and supplied the
neighbors with meat.
Mr. Swanson was busy hauling hay
last week.
A large supply of fruit trees from
the Albany Nursery arrived here at
Colton last week, most of them for
the new settlers.

Preparations are being made for a

farm .here, which he bought about a
year ago.
D. R. Mosher joined his wife and
baby at her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Stone, to spend Thanksgiving.
Mr. Agerman moved from Molalla
onto the Welsmandel place, which he
purchased during the summer.
William Bonney is sawing, wood
with his engine and drag saw for Mr.
Barrett this week.
Mrs. O. A. Hollingsworth has gone
to Portland to spend a few days with
her sister, Mrs. Ray Miller.
More seats were ordered for Tie
Grove school this week, as the pupils
are coming so fast. There are 33 enrolled.

Thanksgiving has come and gone,
the way of all the world.
A still man gathers no moss, but
a rolling stone is the noblest work of
God.
Pofessor Dibble spent Thanksgiving
visiting home folks and looking at his
best girl, and keeping an eye on the
other fellow.
Mr. and Mrs. Holman made a busi
ness trip to Portland Wednesday and
ate turkeys Thursday.
The Noon saw mill has moved out,
having secured a location near Cor
vallls, where the proprietor wHl en
gage in the sawmllllng business on a
large scale.
Mr. Schaffer says T. A. F. T. Is the
combination that will open the door
to prosperity.
J. W. Staudlnger was visiting his
wife's people Sunday.
O. T. Kay returned home Saturday
from Viola, where he had been visit
ing for a few weeks with his daugh
ters, Mrs. Staudlnger and Mrs. Hunt.
J. W. Staudlnger has purchased a
gasoline engine, and will soon have It
fitted up ready for business.
Mr. Kirk butchered a fine lot of
pork Monday.
Meadowbrook now has its school
grounds fenced with a new woven
wire fence.
The Oregon Nursery Company of
Salem, made a delivery of trees at
this place last week. The Oregon
Nursery Company sends out nothing
but first-class stock. The customers
are well pleased with their trees.
B. F. Nojer has started his grub
bing machine to work on that little
corner of grabs that he failed to get
jut last spring. When that Is finished
it will be 100 acres for him.
We go to Sunday school and study
the history of the children of Israel,
but our big boys are studying the his
tory of the children of Abraham.
