They are relics of a dark ago. Moro sickness originates In them, physicians claim than any where else about the place. They can not bo kept In sanitary condition while vegetables are constantly de caying there. The place for a cellar Is ubovc ground and outside the dwell ing. I-ave the basement for the fur nace, the coal bin nnd a genral stoic room. An above-ground cellar Is more convenient In every way. your vegetables can be stored with less tha half the labor when you do not have to go up and down" stairs with them, You can keep an above-ground cellar clean with but little trouble, whllo tho underground 0110 will be neglected nine times out of ten and allowed to become a source of Infection to the family above It. I hope the owners of homes In tho country will give some earnest thought to this matter and de cide to build an above-ground cellar the coming Spring. Ventilation and temperature are much more controllable In such a building than In the old-fashioned un derground cellar, which obliges tho housewife to use up bo much strength In climbing statlrs.- Locate It con venient to the kitchen with which It can bo connected In Winter by an In closed passageway.
