Oilman Parker, geneial mission ary of the Baptist church returned from a trip to Southern Oregon Wednesday. Circuit court adjourned Wednesday soon and Judge McBride and Clerk Re porter Runyan lett the same evening for Portland. K. II. Gabbert, well known in this city aa newsgatherer, is now employed on the Evening Telegram of Portland as a reporter. Miss Lucy Alderman, formerly of this city, but now of Toitland waa visit ing friends and relatives in this city Wednesday. Mrs. Gustay Simon, Miss Ruby Jacobs, Jessie Roeenfeldt, Geitrude White and Irene Ackerman of Portland, were in the city last Monday. Mr. West Durgan, and sister Nettie Durgan, of Vancouver Wash., were guest of Rev. Butler and family from Friday to Sunday. Will Parker, M. D., returned home Sunday from Iowa City and will be in the office of Carll A Sommer during the absence of the latter. Dr. J. Chapman and wife of Seattle arrived in Oregon City Monday to visit with Mrs. Chapman's mother, Mrs. J Hedges, who is quite ill. tion it highly appreciated by the genial doctor. Dr. E. A. Summer left Wednesday evening by steamer for San Francisco where he will spend a few days visiting friends. These promotion, are deserved recognition of the efficiency of two of Oregon City's raoet popular young men. James Church of this city left Wed nesday for Albany, where be has a posi tion as bookkeeper in a large mercantile establishment in that city. Jim is one of our bright young men and his many iriends here who will wish him success in bis new field. Dr. W. E. Carll is highly elated over the victory of Commodor Dwey, for the reason that Dr. Carll is related by marriage to Commodore Dewey, whose brother married a cousin ol Dr. Carll.
