A great many women think that when their liege lords call them bad, abusive names, and make false accu sations regarding their character they have sufficient cause for asking for a decree of divorce ; but worse than this is thy tale of woe stated by Alioe Lillian Quinler in her complaint against William Quinler. Cruelty, desertion aud nnu-snpport are the charges made against the defeudant. On April 12, 1895, the pair were wedded in Portland, and two children were born to them. William was no worse than the average man till five vears after the nuptials, when he de sorted the family, and the plaintiff was compellei to provide for her chil dren for a period of seven years. when like the prodigal . sou he re turned, and effected a reconciliation with his spoose. Ouinler evidently forgot his prom ise to behave himself, for shortly af ter his return, the complaint states, he began to treat her in a brutal man ner, swearing at her, making untruth ful remarks regarding her character, and has freaueutlv beat her, even in the presence of the children, oiten tearing her garments to shreds. Some time ago lie again lert tne fainilv, taking the plaintiff's lint with him, and since then he has not re turned. Plaintiff asks legal separa tion. $23 a month for the support of her chilil roil, and an order restraining Uhe defendant from molesting her or r . . . .... speaking to tne olnldreu.
