Mr. and Mrs. Anderson called on their raughter, Mrs. Zelma Wallace, who lives In the mountains. Mr. and Mrs. Spangler have been visiting frlonds and relatives In PorU land. C. Plepka called on Mr. Schoenborn for Borne wheat one day last week. John Helvey, who was working at Gobel, Wash., has returned home. Mrs. Schoenborn called on Mrs. J. Moshborger Sunday, who Is very 111. Tom Davis called on Miss Bertna Spangler Sunday. Frank Schoenborn and Miss Laura Qulnthor and George Thielman called an Mr. and Mrs. Schoenborn last Sun- Smyrna. The unprecedented cold rains here are delaying corn and potato planting, but we have a good hay and grain crop in sight. Glger & Lackey, of Glad Tidings, moved their saw and planing mill through here last Thursday; their 30 II. P. traction engine furnished the motive power. They Coys will set their mill near the Rock Creek church on what used to be the Durrell tract. I. B. Hlne and family, who formerly lived at Needy, but sold out and mov ed to Cass County, Missouri, four years ago, have come to Oregon again to stay. O. J. Noe farm, near the Rock Creek church, consideration $4,- 000. J. V. Yoder has organized a band at Scotts Mills, with which he meets each week to give instruction. Wes says the boys are very enthusiastic and practice several evenings during each week. Miss Bernadotte Reed, of Lansing, Mich., was visiting with Miss Nellie Yoder last Saturday and Sunday. O. P. Yoder, and his cousin, Miss Flora, were up from Portland last Sunday visiting with the home folks. Why don't somebody start a goose berry ranch ? They grow well, and to see people fairly running over each other to buy a few to can one is lead to believe that there would be money in it. A number of the young people came to the school house on election day to eat ioe cream and attend the ball game. The ladies made about $20.00 from the meals served, and ice cream sold to add to the hall fund; which Is steadily growing, making over $300 in cash, besides the subscriptions tak en, and they hope to be able to com mence building this fall. One of the amusements of the ev ening was a heart game in which Miss Clark, of Portland, and Miss Nettie Kruse were awarded the priz es, the two finding the most hearts.
