Mr. Heylman was declared elected. Thereunon. Jones, chairman of the council, re signed from the council In a hnfr unit his resignation was accepted. Coun cilman Jones, it is said, wanted the position himself, and, failing, resigned Mr. Heylman was the leader nf th anti-Reed party at the last city elec tion, and it was largely through his management that this nartv wr.n it victory, electing Dr.. As he drove through his gate leading to the barn his fractious horses became unmanageable and star ted to running and kicking. Our school Is getting along nicely with about six pupils. Some of them are taking the examination for the eighth grade. Nava Lewellen has gone to Portland where she will attend the business col lege to take a business course. Since the new administra tion has come into power it has planked the streets of tho town and has not put the town any further into debt. They have refused to pay the interest on the $10,000 water bonds, on the ground that the town could not be legally bonded' for so large a sum, as Its assessed valuation is only Jl'J, "(00.
