A lama nnmber of our young folks attended the basket social at Molalla last Friday night and all reported a good time. There was a road meeting held at the Grange Hall last Friday, whioh was largely attended. Jadge G. B. Dimick was present. The meeting was held for the purpose of levying a tax on the district It was voted that they levy a 6-miIl tax, which carried by a large majority. CANBY. Claude Hampton, who has been vis ting relatives here this week, re turned to Portland Sunday. Ed Bair, of Portland, was a guest of his brother, W. H. Bair, Sunday. The Canty Gnu Club had a prictlce shoot Sunday morning. The Canhy Bank and Trust Co's. new building on the corner of Fi st and O streets Is rapidly nearing 00m- pletation. It will be a relief to look on one modern bnilding in the oity. There will be Christmas trees and exercises at the M. E. Church, German Church and the Christian Church on Christmas eve. Fred Shafer and a crew of men are rnnning ties on the Molalla. Warren Baty is running his logs down the Molalla this week. Mrs. Edna Penman entertained the Whist Club at the home of Mrs. Howard Eocles Thursday evening. The house was tastefully decorated with Oregon Grape and other floral deoorations. After whist, a delicate luncheon was served by the hostess, Mrs. Penman, assisted by Mrs. Ecoles. MOUNTAIN VIEW. Miss' Stack Niokels is visiting with her sister at Beuna Vista this week, Born, to the wife of J. D. Locke, Deo. 12, a son. Mr. Weadmar had the misfortune to lose his cow by death last week. Mrs. Maggie Ourrin has her niece from Sellwood visiting her this week. Miss Essie Garde 11 visiting with her siater, Mrs. Lee. Mrs. Gottberg is worse this week. The Xmas exercises will be at the ohuron Saturday evening, Deoember 22. All invited. . Mrs. Maggie Harrington will spend Xmas at Highland. Mr. Mighells sold his cow last week to Mr. Weidner. Mm T.ehuns farollne Thomas died at her home, four m'iea east of Canby, last Saturday morning. December 1, 1906. Mrs. Thomas died cf heart fail ure. Her maiden name was l.ebana Caroline Buinu. She was born in Pike County, Illinois, February 1, 1856; age. 50 years and 10 months, sne was mar ried to John L. Thomas In Calhoun County, Illinois, November 4, 1376. The family came to Oregon in 1884, where they have resided on their farm near Canby ever since. Seven chil dren were born to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, as follows: Mrs. L. Q. Rlggs, Nancy E. Thomas, Chas. A. Thomas, Mary M. Thomas, Jos-. E. Thomas, Le roy R. Thomas, Ethel E. Thomas. All survive. Mrs. Thomas leaves -to mourn her loss a husband and seven chil dren and an aged mother, two broth ers, J. H. and L. P. Burns, and three grandchildren, besides a host of friends. She was a kind and faithful wife, a loving mother, and a true friend. None knew her but to love her.
