Several officers ar- rived in the area and located evidence of gunfire but did not locate any gun- shot victims. Gang Enforcement Team (GET) officers responded to conduct an investigation, which led to a search warrant being served late Tuesday at a residence in the 8700 block of North Tyndall Avenue. During the search, three handguns were seized as evidence, one vehicle was towed and three people were arrested on out- standing warrants. 17-year-old Rothell Davis was arrest- ed for a probation violation. 17-year-old Judge Jonathan Edwards was arrested for a probation violation. 22-year-old Kourtney Alexis Henry was arrested on an outstanding war- rant for Theft in the Second Degree. Davis and Edwards were lodged at the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Home, while Henry was booked into the Multnomah County Jail. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and there have been no charges as a result of the investiga- tion. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact De- tective Jeff Pontius, 503-823-2081 or jeffrey.pontius@portlandoregon.gov. ___________________________ 44-YEAR-OLD MAN IN MEN- TAL HEALTH CRISIS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AFTER FIR- ING HIS GUN IN HOME News Release from Portland Police Bu- reau FlashAlert: July 13th, 2015 12:04 PM On Monday July 13, 2015, at 8:53 a.m., North Precinct officers respond- ed to a residence in the 9800 block of N Clarendon Ave on the report of several gunshots heard inside a home. The caller reported that there was loud music coming from the home all morning and the resident had a history of mental health issues. Several offi- cers responded to the area and estab- lished containment around the home. Officers at the scene contacted Project Respond and the Portland Police Bu- reau’s Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) to assist with the call. At approximate- ly 9:45 a.m., the 44-year-old male resident of the home came outside of his own volition and was taken into custody without incident. The man directed officers to several firearms in the home, which were taken as ev- idence. The man was taken to a Port- land hospital on a hold for a mental health evaluation. The assault involved the fami- lies of two individuals participating in Thursday Night Motorcross. During the assault one individual suffered se- rious injuries and was taken to an area hospital. A second individual, Michael Taylor, a 50-year-old male, was arrest- ed at the scene for Assault IV. Portland Police detectives are requesting that any witnesses and in particular anyone with video of the incident contact De- tective Mark Slater or Detective Erik Kammerer. The original charges against 50-year-old Michael Taylor have been dismissed pending a grand jury. __________________________ GANG ENFORCEMENT TEAM OFFICERS ARREST 46-YEAR-OLD MAN ARMED WITH A GUN, WEARING BULLETPROOF VEST News Release Portland Police Bureau FlashAlert: July 13th, 2015 3:44 PM On Saturday July 11, 2015, at 7:53 p.m., Gang Enforcement Team (GET) officers conducted a traffic stop at NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and Go- ing St. Officers contacted the driver of the white 1996 Chevrolet Monte Car- lo, 46-year-old Billy Troy Ballastressi, and determined that he was wearing a bulletproof vest. Officers arrested Ballastressi and determined that he also was in possession of a gun, co- caine, heroin and methamphetamine. Ballastressi was booked into the Mult- nomah County Jail on charges of Fel- on in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Body Armor, Posses- sion of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Metham- phetamine, Manufacturing Cocaine, Delivery of Cocaine, and Possession of Cocaine. The Tactical Operations Division is continuing to investigate several incidents of gun violence city- wide. Anyone with information about gun crimes in the City of Portland is encouraged to provide information to the Portland Police Bureau’s Tactical Operations Division at 503-823-4106. Killingsworth Street heard a gunshot and observed a subject running. Officers were able to detain the subject and began investi- gating the incident. While conducting the investigation a shooting call in the same area came out. Officers respond- ed to the location, a trailer park in the area, and located a deceased male. The victim in this incident has been identi- fied as 35-year-old Brandon Kaufman. The suspect in this incident is receiv- ing treatment for a suspect drug over- dose and will be taken into custody when medically stable.
