Damage is estimated at $500,000. On 1/27/2015 at 7:54AM a fi re broke out in a spray booth at a semi-truck manufacturing plant. Arriving fi refi ghters found fi re burning in the spray booth and above spreading onto the build- ings roof. The fi re forced hundreds of employees to evacuate and nu- merous plant operations were put on hold. All employees were ac- counted for and no injuries were associated with this fi re. The fi re involved fl ammable liquids and aerosols. Several systems had to be shut down before the fi re could be extinguished. The fi re was ex- tinguished and fi refi ghters let em- ployees back into safe portions of the building. ======================== TRUCK SMASHES INTO CONCORDIA WALGREEN’S IN ATTEMPTS TO STEAL ATM News Release from Portland Police Bureau Posted: January 27th, 2015 7:53 AM On Tuesday January 27, 2015, at 4:13 a.m., North Precinct offi cers responded to the report of an ATM theft in progress at the Walgreen’s store, located at 5420 Northeast 33rd Avenue. As offi cers were still en route, witnesses told 9-1-1 that two men ran from the truck, which was stuck inside the store. Offi cers arrived in the area and es- tablished a neighborhood perime- ter and called for a Police K-9 Unit to respond to the scene. Offi cers went inside the store and locat- ed the truck and a chain wrapped around an ATM. Several offi cers, including the K-9, searched the neighborhood but did not locate anyone matching the suspects descriptions. Both suspects were described as white males in dark clothing. At this time, it is not known if this attempted ATM theft is connected with other reports over the past few months. Anyone with information about this inci- dent should contact the Burglary Detail by email, burglary@port- landoregon.gov. ======================== ROBBERY AT MILL PARK SUBWAY News Release from Portland Police Bureau Posted January 26th, 2015 8:00 AM On Monday January 26, 2015, at 2:56 a.m., East Precinct offi cers responded to the report of a rob- bery at Subway, located at 2411 Southeast 122nd Avenue. Offi cers arrived in the area and spoke to the victim who told police that two men entered the sandwich shop and demanded money. One sus- pect shoved the victim to the fl oor during the robbery. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspects fl ed the store. Several of- fi cers checked the area but did not locate anyone matching the sus- pects descriptions. The suspects were described as unknown race males, no clothing description. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Rob- bery detectives at (503) 823-0403. ======================== GUN, METH, CASH AND STOLEN PROPERTY SEIZED FROM LENTS HOME News Release from Portland Police Bureau Posted January 26th, 2015 7:52 AM On Friday January 23, 2015, at 3:29 p.m., East Precinct offi cers responded to a residence at 9126 Southeast Insley Street on the re- port that a man menaced two people with a handgun inside the home. Offi cers arrived and spoke with the victim and his girlfriend, both of whom were menaced by the suspect, identifi ed as 52-year- old James Edwards Stebbins. Of- fi cers surrounded the home and called into Stebbins, using a police car PA system, and asked that he come outside the home. At ap- proximately 5:00 p.m., Stebbins exited the home and surrendered to police without incident. Offi cers assigned to the Gun Task Force (GTF) responded and obtained a search warrant for the home. Once inside, offi cers located and seized three (3) ounces of Meth- amphetamine, a small amount of Heroin, a stolen handgun, more than $4,000 cash, and other sto- len property. Stebbins was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon (two counts), Aggravat- ed Th eft in the First Degree, and Menacing (two counts). ======================= THREE EARLY MORNING SHOOTINGS - NO KNOWN GUNSHOT VICTIMS News Release from Portland Police Bureau Posted January 24th, 2015 6:01 PM In the early morning hours of Sat- urday January 24, 2015, Portland Police offi cers responded to and investigated three separate shoot- ing reports. No gunshot victims were located and no arrests have been made. At 12:22 a.m., East Precinct and Gang Enforcement Team offi cers responded to the report of a large fi ght and shooting outside the Mitchell Court Apartments, locat- ed at 5214 Southeast 72nd Avenue. Multiple people were contacted at the scene by police but were uncooperative and refused to assist in the inves- tigation. Occupants of one apart- ment were contacted and an adult male was discovered to have inju- ries from an assault but was unco- operative. He was transported to a Portland hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries. No suspects were identifi ed and no arrests were made during this in- cident. At 1:25 a.m., East Precinct and Gang Enforcement Team offi cers responded to a residence in the 9900 block of Northeast Reedway Street on the report of a large fi ght in the street and that a female was hit by a car that sped away. Offi cers arrived in the area and contact- ed the female hit and run victim, who was not seriously injured. She refused to cooperate with police and was transported to a Portland hospital for treatment. A possible suspect vehicle was located nearby and towed for Traffi c Investigators. While offi cers were conduct- ing this investigation, they heard several gunshots being fi red near them, just to the East of their lo- cation. Offi cers immediately re- sponded to Southeast 103rd Av- enue and Reedway Street and located evidence of gunfi re but did not locate any victims or proper- ty damage. Witnesses described hearing vehicles leaving the area immediately aft er the gunshots. At 2:02 a.m., North Precinct offi - cers responded to Jag’s Clubhouse, located at 605 North Columbia Boulevard, on the report of a shooting and cars speeding out of the area. Offi cers arrived at the scene and located evidence of gun- fi re in the parking lot next to the bar. No gunshot victims or prop- erty damage was located. Offi cers spoke with witnesses and learned that the shooting may have been part of domestic disturbance be- tween a man and a woman, neither of whom remained at the scene. Th e woman left in one vehicle and the suspect left in another. ======================= SHOOTING OUTSIDE LLOYD CENTER MALL News Release from Portland Police Bureau Posted January 24th, 2015 5:35 PM On Saturday January 24, 2015, at 4:43 p.m., North Precinct and Gang Enforcement Team offi cers responded to the report of gunshots heard in the Lloyd Center Mall parking structure, near Northeast 9th Avenue and Halsey Street. Several offi cers arrived and imme- diately entered the parking struc- ture to address any possible threats or suspects and to prevent access to the interior of the mall. Offi cers did not locate any suspects at the scene and it appears there is no immediate risk to mall patrons. Evidence of gunfi re was located near the Barnes and Noble store on the Halsey side of the mall. One window at Barnes and Noble was damaged but it is not clear if the damage is the result of gunfi re. A person was seen running out of the parking structure and was de- scribed as an African American male wearing all dark clothing, bright-colored shoes, 5’7” tall, cornrowed or dread-locked hair, lase seen running northbound on Halsey from the parking structure. It is not known if this person is a witness, suspect or victim. Anyone with information is asked to call the Police Non-Emergency Line at (503) 823-3333.
