Club held its semiannual election of officers at tho Y. W. C. A. in Portland ast Monday night. At a meeting at the home of Mrs. Fox, 221 Oswego street, hursday afternoon of last week a Guild was organized by ladies of the Episcopal church. The following officers were elected: Mrs. Mary E.Mayger, president; Mrs. Fox, vice president: Mrs. Bessie Post, secretary; Mrs. W. C. Walker, treasurer. The Guild will meet at the home of one of its members the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The next meeting will be held Thursday afternoon. Jan uary 2G, at the home of Mrs. W. C. A very pretty "Mother Gooso" temper anco pageant was given by six teen junior boys and girls. Mrs. J.C. Scott told of tho work of tho local W.C. T. U. in an inter eating and entertaining manner. Mrs.Mary L. Mallet, stato prcsi dent of the w. u. 1. u.. gave n fine address. Excellent music was furnished by the orchestra and choir, which was led by Mrs. Mulkey. Rev. John G. Wright and number of other Portland folks, gave an interesting talk on Uivino Healing anno Moose hall on Wcdnesdny evening to good sized audience. Mr. Kelley and Mr. Wright testified to their healing under Rev. Lake's ministration. At the closo of tho meeting Rev. Lake invited any ono present who de sired prayers for any purpose whatever to como forward. Quite a number took advantage of the invitation and wero ministered to. Row Lake is planning to come to bt. Johns regularly as soon as he can make tho nec essary arrangements. Laurelwood has been bereaved or a charter mem ber recently in tho death of Mrs. Cynthia Hewitt, which ocurred n Vancouver on January Hth. During her residence in St. Johns she was an active worker in the Lodge and community. Her husband, H. S. Hewitt, and three children, Charles, Mary and Mrs. Nellie Dorman.are left to mourn her loss.
