..ORDINANCE NO 590. AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZ ING CERTAIN PROPOSI TION TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE QUALIFIED ELEC TORS OP THE CITY OF ST. JOHNS AT, THE REGULAR ANNUAL CITY ELECTION HELD ON MONDAY, THE SIXTH DAY OF APRIL A. D. 1914. SHALL THE CITY OF ST. JOHNS INCUR A MU NICIPAL BONDED INDEBT EDNESS IN THE SUM OF NINE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($9,- 500.00) FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING A TRIPLE ..COMBINATION A'UTO TRUCK FIRE FIGHTING AP PARATUS. The city of St. Johns does or dain ns follows: Section.!. The City Council deems it expedient and neces aary for the best interest of the city to acquire certain lire fiht- innppurnuiB, which the exitf encies of the fire department re quires. That ns the regular an nual city election will he held on Monday, the sixth day of April A. D.. 1914: therefore it is or dcred that a proposition to he submitted to the (nullified clcc tors of the city of St. Johns. namely as follows: "Shall the city of St. Johns incur a munic ipal bonded indebtedness in the sum of NinuThousand Five Hun dred Dollars ($9500.00) for the purchasing of a triple combiim tion auto truck lire lighting ap paratus" Section 2. That Baid Triple Combination Auto '1 ruck shall be held and used by the city of St. Johns for lire protection. That said bonds to run for a pe riod of Ten (10) years from the date of issue, and bear interest at a rato not to exceed six per cent per annum, and interest to bo paid semi-annually. Section .'i. It is. therefore, ordered.thnt the City Recorder is authorized, directed and ro quired to have said proposition printed upon the ballot, and have the required notice posted as re quired by law and the city char tor of the city of St. Johns, and make all necessary arrangements to enable the qualified electors of the city of St. Johns to vote in the adirmativo or in the ueg ntive on said proposition at the annual city election to be held as above stated Passed by tho city council this 10th day of March A. l) 191 Approved by the Mayor this 10th day of March A. 1)., 1914 CHAS. The City of St. Johns does or dain as follows: Section 1. That the salary of the Mayor of the city of bt. Johns be, and the same is here by. fixed at $3.00 for each rcitu lar meeting of the city council which ho attends. Section 2. That the salary of each Councilman of the city of St.. Johns, excepting such Coun oilman as may bo nnnointcd as chairman of the street commit tee, be and the same is hereby fixed at $2.00 for each regular meeting which ho attends Section 3. That the salary of the member of the city council of the city of St. Johns, who shall be appointed chairman of the street committed be and the same is hereby fixed at $3.00 for each regular meeting of tho city council which he attends, while he is so acting as chairman of the street committee. Section 4. That the salary of the City Recorder of the city of St. Johns be, and the same is hereby, fixed at $100.00 per month. Section 5. That the salary of the Deputy Recorder of the city of St. Johns be, and the same is, hereby fixed at $50.00 per month. Section (5. That the salary of the City Treasurer of the city of St. Johns be and the same is hereby, fixed at m.W per month. Section 7. That the salary of each regular Assistant Police or Patrolman of tho city of St. Johns be, and the same is here by, fixed at fc75.00 per month. Section l'J. Sealed proposals will be re ceived by thn undersigned at his office in tho City of St. Johns, Oregon, until six P. M. on the Seventeenth day of March, 1914, for the sale of the whole or any part of Bonds of tho City of St. Johns, issued under Ordinance No. 580, at not less than par and accrued interest. Said bonds to be dated as fol lows: $2,031. 51-Jan. 10, 1914. $4,250.89-Jan. 31, 1914. Amounting in all to $0,282.40. All of said bonds are issued in denominations of Five Hundred dollars or less, and all of said bonds are payable ten years af ter date of said bonds. All of said bonds are coupon bonds, bearing interest at the rate of six per cent, payable semi-annually, subject to nil the conditions imposed, directed and stipulated by Section 131 of the charter of the City of St. Johns. Tho right is reserved to re deem any and all bonds' at any interest paying period at or af ter one year from date. All bids must be accompanied by a certified check lor two per cent of the amount of the bid, and the said check shall be pay able to the City of St. Johns. and the said check shall be re tained by the City of St. Johns as damages in case the bidder to whom the bonds are awarded fails to accept and pay for the same within fifteen days after tho acceptance of tho bid. The money is to be paid and the bonds are to bo delivered at St. Johns, Multnomah county, Oregon. Tho nirht is reserved by the Council to reject any and all bids. r. A.
