Little Amelia Samuels, who was taken down with diphtheria last week just after his sister was buried, is reported much improved. The family have tcmiornrily left their home to stay with Mr. Samuels' mother in the city. Portsmouth school has been fumi gated, and its three hundred pupils nre carefully wached and questioned by the teachers. Anyone found suffering with sore throat, no matter what the cause or how .slight, is immediately scut home.
