M 1:46 t:S0 :I6 8:46 8:46 AN ASSOCIATION Commenting on the proposed Bulletin says: "The suggestion from Prineville that the leading towns ot Central Oregon join in the employment of Chautauqua entertainment next year instead of contracting with the com panies in the field this summer, is very good, and it is to be hoped that lt will be carried out. Presumably arrangements for "talent" will be made with one of the companies, but if representatives of the four largest Central Oregon towns are acting as one committee in making a contract for the four, they ought to get bet ter terms than if each one tried to deal separately: At any rate there j would never occur again any such situation as exists this summer when over 18,000 is being paid by Bend, Madras, Redmond and Prineville for their Chautauquas. If a real organization is perfected there should be other economies as well. With such buildings available , as the gymnasiums in Bend and Red- Blond, and the Commercial club hall in Prineville. the expense ot bring ing in and selling up tents should be eliminated. Other economies should suggest themselves and other bene fits he found that will never occur under present arrangements.
