Subsequent investigation indicated a GMC pick- up, which was being operated by James Harold Johnson, 81, of Salem, had been travel- J. Johnson ing west on Chemawa Road Northeast when it left the roadway and collided with a utility pole. That initial im- pact sheared the pole off at the ground. Following that impact, the GMC crossed the oncom- ing lane, left the roadway, drove through a fence, through the corner of a house and through a second fence before colliding with a parked car where it fi - nally stopped. No one was in- jured in the incident.
