Ward Joseph Wesley Pashak December 7, 1924 – November 29, 2019 Jan. 15, 1929 - Dec. 14, 2019 Till the end of his days Gil always greeted everyone with a “Howdy” or a “Hey kiddo.” He had a welcoming personality and started everyday happily whistling. He was a strong man who gave much to his family, always worked hard and was generous to all he knew. Gil was born in Seattle, Wash. to Sylvia and Gilbert Ward. He grew up in Seattle, Portland and Salem. After serving in WWII he met his wife Marge, they were married 67 years upon her passing in 2016. They settled in Keizer and raised fi ve children, which all live in the area: Gilbert A. Ward, Christi (Charles) Landes, Sherri (Ray) Beaty, Nanci (Marty) Friesen and Janet (John Mike) McHugh. Gil owned and operated Gil Ward Marine, was a River Guide throughout the state of Oregon and an avid hunter and fi sherman. He loved all things outdoors and shared this love with his friends and family. After he retired, he spent much of his time in Depoe Bay fi shing. G. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and his sister Carolee Todd. Celebration of life will be held Friday, Dec. 27 at 3 p.m. at Keizer Funeral Chapel. SUBSCRIBE CALL 503-390-1051 Joseph Wesley Pashak was born Jan. 15, 1929 in Portland, Ore. and passed away Dec. 14, 2019. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and Lewis and Clark College. He served in the army during the Korean war, where he received a Purple Heart. He met Anita Olson on a blind date and six months later, they were married at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Portland. Shortly after, they moved to west Salem. He became a U.S.D.A food inspector where he worked until he retired in 1989. Over the years Joe enjoyed He and Anita then started traveling one or two months volunteering his time. He served as president each year, visiting all of the Kennedy 50 states, most of them Elementary School twice and more than PTA, the Independent 50 foreign countries. A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 20, 2019 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church at 1770 Baxter Road SE, Salem, Oregon, 97306, with viewing at 10 a.m. A reception will follow. In lieu of fl owers, donations may be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church or the American Lung Association. Internment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
