Scoot Salem brings two-wheeled fun On June 22, motor scooter/mini bike enthusi- asts came from as far away as Spokane to take part in the 3rd Annual Scoot Sa- lem event. Three years ago, Scoot Salem held it fi rst event and had about 20 partici- pants from around the Sa- lem-Keizer area. This time, Scoot Salem had more than 80 people in attendance from all over the Willamette Valley and beyond. Scoot Salem is sponsored by and makes destinations of local busi- nesses. This year’s event was sponsored by Cycle Country, Stereo King, Cy- cle Gear, Vagabond Brew- ing, Bills Motor Cycle Plus, Bine Brewing, Scoot- er Swap Shop and RZr Proz. Scoot Salem began its route this year at Cycle Country, traveled through Keizer and past Volca- noes Stadium, then back through the center of Keizer before stopping for a meal at Vagabond Brew- ing. The lunch stop host- ed a slowest competition, in which riders see who can go 50 yards the slowest with out putting their feet down. There were also prizes for best bike and furthest traveled. After those events, the group made a stop at Oregon’s iconic Capitol building for a photo op, and then split into several different groups for tours throughout Salem and Keizer area with visits to local businesses. This year, the event ended at Stereo King and Cycle Gear for a raffl e and awards presentation. More than $2,000 in raffl e prizes were given out thanks to our generous sponsors.
