PAGE A8, KEIZERTIMES, AUGUST 24, 2018 police scanner 9-1-1 call interrupts attempted assault A Salem man allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment with intent to as- sault her new boyfriend, but was foiled by a call to 9-1-1. Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, Aug. 14, a man forced entry, through a win- dow, into an apartment in the 1200 block of McGee Court Northeast. He then jumped on top of his intended vic- tim while he was lying in bed. Once the victims said they were calling 9-1-1, the man fl ed on a bicycle. Keizer police offi cers caught up to the suspect walk- ing near the intersection of River Road North and Hid- den Creek Drive Northeast. He was detained while of- fi cers at the residence inter- viewed the victims. Tyler James Robertson, 35, of Salem, was arrested and transported to Marion Coun- ty Correctional Facility and has since been charged with two counts of harassment, one count of criminal mischief and one count of burglary. In Oregon, burglary is defi ned as unlawful entry into a dwelling with the intent to commit a crime. MASTURBATING MAN SLIPS POLICE A man spotted lying on the ground and pleasuring himself near the trail next to the boat ramp in Keizer Rapids Park managed to elude arrest Sun- day, Aug. 19. Keizer police offi cers were called to the park just after noon. The caller said another couple walked by the man and said what he was doing was inappropriate. As soon as he was called out, the man got to his feet, pulled up his pants and ran east toward the boat ramp parking lot. Several offi cers responded but were unable to locate the suspect who had bleached blond hair and was wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts.
