PAGE A4, JEIZERTIMES, JULY 27, 2018 TEMPEST, continued from Page A1 there usually is. We’re playing with humor in this show.” Todd Logan, a veteran of Pentacle Theatre in Salem, is making his Keizer Home- grown Theatre debut as Pros- pero. “In reality, Prospero is this great magician but really the only thing he really threatens anybody with is cramps and pinches,” Baker said. “Prospe- ro lost his dukedom because he wasn’t paying attention. He was all involved with the naturals and the natural world and now he’s got it and it’s not as interesting as he thought it would be and he’s ready to go home and be duke. He’s not this weird mystical creature that he’s often played. He’s a guy who thought it might be more fun not to be duke.” Logan’s son Spence, who played Romeo for Keizer Homegrown last summer, is one of two actors, along with Allison Reid, cast as Ariel, spirits who serve Prospero. “I thought it would be kind of fun to see two Ariels, a male and a female, a yin and a yang,” Baker said. “He’s one of the few fantastical characters in the show. Everybody else is real.” JEIZERTIMES/Eric A. Howald A new play structure at Meadows Park will open soon. City fees go to work JEIZERTIMES/Derek Wiley Richard Leppig (Gonzalo), Shannon Remple (Alonsa) and James Schmidt (Ferdinand) perform a scene from The Tempest at the Jeizer Rotary Amphitheater. Kyra Wood, of Aumsville, plays Prospero’s daughter, who has only known life on the island. Antonio is played by Roy Esquivel and Alonsa, Queen of Naples, by Shannon Remple. Her son, Ferdinand, is portrayed by James Schmidt. The rest of the cast includes Sam Tibbits as Caliban, Mi- chael Jaffee as Sebastian Richard Leppig as Gonzo- lo, Shilah Kahree as Trinculo, Braden Pippert as Stefano, Lyndon Zaitz as lords Fran- cisco and Adrian, Jordan Reid as Boatswain and Tim Reid as Ships Master. Sydney Colman, Me- gan Cox, Chantelle Gemmill,Becky Nielson, Re- bekah Pippert and Lauren Stenson play druids, inhabit- ants of the island who come to the aid of Prospero and Ariel. Sprinkled in throughout the show, leading characters in and out of scenes, The Tempest also includes more music than most Shakespeare shows. Hill- ary Hoover, previously in Dog Park the Musical, is a featured soloist. New this year, Keizer Homegrown will take its Shakespeare in the Park to Aumsville for three perfor- mances on Aug. 3, 4 and 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Porter Boone Park Stage, 1105 Main St. “It’s a lot of work for a three night run so this gives us six performances at two different venues,” Baker said. “We’ve all worked together in the past. They are there to see our shows. We have helped them with costumes and we’ve traded actors back and forth. It’s been a really good collaboration.” By ERIC A. HOWALD Of the Keizertimes Nine months after enacting service fees to support parks and police in the City of Keizer some of the major goals are close to becoming a reality. In the last month, a roof replacement at the Gazebo in Chalmer-Jones Park was completed as was a complete renova- tion of the play structure in north Keizer’s Meadows Park. In addition, four of the fi ve police offi cers whose salaries are paid by the police fee graduated from the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training in early July. While the offi cers are done with the police academy, they will be riding alongside partners for the next few months before getting certifi ed for solo patrols. The new offi cers are: Michael Kowash, Garrett VanCleave, Jeremy Darst and Chad Fahey. The replacement play structure at Meadows Parks includes separate structures for smaller children and older ones, one ad- ditional regular swing and a disability swing, and a climbing web for general use. All of it is on top of a rubberized fall-protection surface. The cost was $232,870 for the new playground. The new gazebo roof – the old one was reaching the end of its useful life – cost $7,700. public notices SUMMONS IN THE CIRCUIT COURT OF THE STATE OF OREGON FOR THE COUNTY OF MARION Case No. 18AP00775 SUMMONS - ADOPTION In the Matter of the Adoption of: TARYNN LEE HOCHSTETLER, A Minor Child.
