MARCH 2, 2018, KEIZERTIMES, PAGE B5 DONE, continued from Page B1 Oregon City answered with a 3-pointer with 1:34 remaining and went into half- time leading 23-20. Kailey Doutt, who was vot- ed Greater Valley Conference Player of the Year, made her fi rst basket with 5:12 remain- ing in the third period to get the Lady Celts within 27-26. “There was a lot of help if Kailey was attacking the basket to force it out of her hands,” McNary head coach Elizabeth Doran said. The Pioneers went on an 8-0 run to stretch their lead to 37-28 but Alfaro made a three-point play and Doutt found Mackenzie Proctor, who knocked down an open jump shot to get McNary within 38-34 heading to the fi nal period. Oregon City went on an- other 6-0 run in the fourth to fi nish off the Lady Celts. “A couple of times on their dribble drive, we were trying to switch it and there was just some miscommunication and they were getting to the bas- ket on us,” Doran said. McNary made just two fi eld goals in the fourth pe- riod, a basket in the paint by Kailey Doutt with 7:19 re- maining and a 3 from Leah Doutt with 36 seconds to go. “Second half, offensively, we needed to be a little bit more aggressive,” Doran said. Oregon City went 12-for- 21 from the free throw line while the Lady Celts were 7-for-12. “They’re just a little bit more physical than us on the inside,” Doran said. “They are fi nishing in to us instead of we were more fi nesse on the fi n- ishes, which is tough to draw fouls and get to the free throw line.” Hawley and Leah Doutt each fi nished with nine points. Kailey Doutt was held to fi ve. Oregon City, the Mt. Hood Conference champions this season and state runner-up last year, have won 11 in a row. The Pioneers advance to play at West Linn on Friday, March. 2. “I think we showed that we deserved to be here and deserved to play teams of that caliber,” Doran said. “On a given night, I think it could have gone either way. It slipped away from us there at the end there in the fourth quarter.” The Lady Celts fi nished the season 17-8. “I had a great group to coach,” Doran said. “They were a joy to coach. They bought into what I was saying. They played really hard for me and they are great girls to be around.” Sam Goesih CLU, Agent Sam Goesih Ins Agiy Ini 3975 River Road North Keizer, OR 97303 Bus: 503-393-6252 Web: SamGoesih.iom State Farm , Bloomington, IL 1211999 KEIZERTIMES/Derek Wiley McNary seniors Emma Kinler, from left, Paige Downer and Kailey Doutt were honored after the Lady Celts game against McMinnville on Wednesday, Feb. 21. Lady Celts honor seniors By DEREK WILEY Of the Keizertimes McNary couldn’t play the spoiler role as McMinnville won 54-40 on Wednesday, Feb. 21 to share the Greater Valley Conference crown. McMinnville was the only team in the GVC the Lady Celts weren’t able to beat this season after splitting with South Salem, Forest Grove and West Albany. “It’s a bad matchup for us inside,” McNary head coach Elizabeth Doran said. McNary fell behind early as the Grizzlies took an 18-10 lead with a 3-pointer to begin the second period. McMin- nville then banked in a 3 at the buzzer to extend its lead to 32- 19 at halftime. The Lady Celts opened the second half on an 11-4 run to get within 36-30 with 3:49 remaining in the third but couldn’t get any closer. “Credit to our girls they fought in the second half and we hung with them,” Doran said. “They’re a good team. They play extended zone which comes out and sometimes traps. We just struggle with the length and attacking that.” After the game, McNary honored its three seniors—Kai- ley Doutt, Paige Downer and Emma Kinler. “They’ve been great,” Doran said. “I had a fantastic fi rst group of seniors to work with. They play really hard for me. They’re fun to be around. They’ve been great leaders. It’s been a good fi rst year experience with se- nior leadership, especially when we had some younger kids on the team.” Doutt led the Lady Celts in scoring with 16 points. Down- er fi nished with nine. Sabella Alfaro also had nine and Abbie Hawley added six points. BANK, OCCUPANTS OF THE PROPERTY, Defendant(s).
