It was later determined that the woman in the vehicle al- legedly purchased $24 in items from Revis Keizer Au- tomotive and received $76 in change. Danielle J. Johnson, 21, of Portland, was arrested and charged with forgery. She de- nied knowing the bill was fake when offi cers questioned her. Offi cers seized a 2005 Chevrolet Impala and are working on a search warrant for the vehicle, which is be- lieved to contain additional evidence of criminal activity. Salem man leads Keizer cop on chase On Friday, Aug. 25, Keizer Offi cer Esteban Perez at- tempted to stop a vehicle for a minor traffi c violation that led to a chase and arrest. About 1 a.m., Perez at- tempted to pull over a 2001 BMW, activating his lights as Two women were arrested after trying to pass fake $100 bills at two Keizer businesses during the eclipse on Aug. 21. The incidents were re- ported about 11 a.m. at Revis Keizer Automotive and B&S Market. One woman allegedly used a fake bill to purchase $30 in Lottery tickets at B&S. She received $70 in change and the tickets before the clerk began to suspect the bill was fake. The clerk confronted the woman in the parking lot and demanded the tickets and change back. The woman complied and was given back the fake $100 bill. The suspect left the area on foot and was found by police trespassing through the back- yard of a home on Mistletoe Loop N. while attempting to reach the Courthouse Athletic Club parking lot. Kannita Ma- rie Kelly, 18, was arrested for three outstanding warrants and charged with forgery and theft. Further investigation re- vealed the woman in B&S the driver pulled into Plym- outh Square Apartments. The driver did not stop, turned around and pulled back onto eastbound Plymouth Drive Northeast. Perez followed the vehicle to Cherry Avenue and then Shangri-La Avenue head- ing west. When the suspect turned into Parkway Village Apartments, Perez waited at the only entrance/exit. Soon thereafter, a witness contacted Perez and said the they saw the suspect fl ee on foot. Offi cer Scott Keniston lo- cated the fl eeing suspect near the McDonalds on Broadway and took him into custody af- ter pointing his Taser at him. A fi rearm was found inside the vehicle. Jake Montano, 25, of Sa- lem, was taken to the Marion County Correctional Facil- ity and charged with being a felon in possession of a weap- on, fl eeing or attempting to elude an offi cer, driving while suspended and unlawful pos- session of methamphetamine. The gun was later determined to have been stolen in a 2013 incident reported to the Salem Police Department.
