She also had closes matches with South Salem freshman Abby Fedor, who enters the district tour- nament as the 4 seed. “I know there’s tough competition,” Childress said. “We’re all very close skill wise. The two matches that I lost against Anya and Ceanne, I do feel like I could’ve defi nitely done better scoring wise and I think I can beat them. I have a chance. I’d like to at least get my seeding. I’m just going to do my best because that’s all I can do.” GILBERT, continued from Page 12 “What struck me at the end of the process is Josiah in his innocent way didn’t even real- ize how good he was,” Keeker said. “It was just that humble innocence that got my at- GVC track fi nals May 32 McNary’s track and fi eld team got its fi nal tuneup for the Greater Valley Con- ference Championships in a dual meet against host South Salem and North Sa- lem on Wednesday, May 3. We fi nished 3-9 on the sea- son, which is one win better than last year. I hope that we either meet or exceed that ranking in the district as well. It was a great experience for me and something I defi nitely needed. It was just exceptional.” Gilbert was voted a team captain before the 2017 season. “Josiah has earned every bit of this in terms of his future to play baseball at Pacifi c Univer- sity,” Keeker said. “We want to put a good swing on a good pitch. We’ve been successful with that ap- proach.” The Celtics added a run each in the third, fourth and fi fth to continue to pad their lead. Ismay was 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs.
