In record time Keizer’s Christmas decorations were hung on utility poles along the city’s main thoroughfares early on the morning of Sunday, Nov. 20. A sizable group of civic volunteers, led by Dave Walery, affectionately known as Keizer’s Mr. Christmas, gathered decorations for their storage space and in the cold, wet morning hours turned Keizer into a holiday city. The next hanging of lights will Keizer’s Christmas tree at River Road and Cherry Ave. on Saturday, Nov. 26. Walery and other volun- teers will be aided by R&R Tree Service, which is donating the use of its lift truck to reach the heights of the tree. R&R was the only organiza- tion that had a vehicle that is available that day to do the job. The tree lighting ceremony is Tuesday, Dec. 6.
