PAGE A8, KEIZERTIMES, MARCH 18, 2016 Progress in Keizer Station Area C CCWC has discovery night, photo contest It’s time to discover your wa- tershed. The Claggett Creek Water- shed Council (CCWC) meets monthly at Keizer Civic Center and is led by Mark Caillier. Through April 13, the CCWC is holding a photo con- test. Awards for the contest will be presented during the free Watershed Discovery Night on Wednesday, April 27. The event starts at 6 p.m. at the civic cen- ter. The Claggett Creek Water- shed includes most of Keizer, portions of Northeast Salem and unincorporated Marion Coun- ty on either side of Interstate 5. The watershed collects all the rainwater that could drain into Claggett Creek, which feeds the Willamette River. The CCWC does projects and educational activities with the idea of protecting and pro- moting water quality and wild- life habitat in the watershed. For the contest, the photo must be taken within the wa- tershed boundary. Photos can be submitted to contest@ccw- council.org or via Facebook at the CCWC page. Photos need to be less than 10 MB in size, in JPEG format and include the photographer’s name and age, as well as the photo category and where the photo was taken. The categories are urban, nature and wildlife. Members of the Keizer Art Association will do the judging, with Keizer mayor Cathy Clark helping as well. There will be three age groups within each category: 11 and under, 12 to 18 and 18-plus. The nine winners will each re- ceive a $50 cash card, while one overall grand prize winner will get a cash card worth $100. On April 27, the event starts with booths, displays, activities and demonstrations. Awards will be handed out at 6:45 p.m. At 7:05 p.m. the doc- umentary Upriver will be shown, which is about the Willamette River and Oregonians who take part in its future. Event contributors include the cities of Keizer and Salem as well as Marion County. For more information on the CCWC, visit www.claggettcwc. org or fi nd them on Facebook.
