FIRE ALARM SOUNDS MONDAY MORNING A fire alarm was turned in about 10 a. m. Monday from A. D. Gardner’s house on Third St. An extra hot flue had set fire to Ihe surrounding woodwork, snd the prompt action o f the members o f the family, the firemen and neighbors prevented a serious conflagration. More serious, as their wss a baby but about 15 minutes old in the room directly beneath the room that was aflre. However, no ! serious complications occurred and the mother, Mrs. C. D. Stayton, and in fant are doing nicely. CITY COUNCIL MET TUESDAY NIGHT Mrs. Eva Gcoderham o f La Grande died Sunday, Dec. 5 at her home in that place. Interment took place at La Grande Tuesday, Dec. 7. She leaves five children, William, Thomas and Henry o f La Grande and Mrs. Chas. Gehlen and Mrs. J. M. Shepherd o f this place.
